These Clear Image headers any good? I'm looking into a shorty set. I lost a set of SLP ones last night by $5

Those are a waste of money. No real performance advantage.

Go with Afterburners. Smile

I will admit that if I were to do things again(2nd Impala SS) now I would throw the afterburners on. My First '94 SS had AS&M headers and I went to the budgets when they cam out. My current SS had Grotyohann headers+cats and I needed cats during my purchase of the engine. I sold them and bought Tri-Ys +cats rom Focuztech. Even Dan has caught on doing hook-up pipes to Afterburners!

I paid $130 for mine like 5 years ago, so maybe that's right... Seems steep, but that's change for you.

Cheaper than Focuztech.. Summit charges $154.00 more for a set of Coated afterburners, is that steep for coating or does that sound right? Anybody have a write up on said headers, and how they are install/performance wise?

Focuztech is charging $289.90 for "painted" headers

The only issue with afterburners is the hookup to the rest of the system. I'd grab those before I even considered any other brand.

Yeah-when I got my '94 SS with those AS&M shorties I thought what was this guy thinking? They were not as bad etc. as the Hookers or Edelbrox. but still.

Edlebroks require exhaust fab work on the passenger side to fit.

So if you gotta do it on one side, go CHEAPER and get the AB's and you could do some high flow cats, too, for less than that 500 bucks. And see some REAL, ACTUAL performance gains. Instead of just being able to claim you have "headers" on your car... Wink

I hate/dispize/loth long tube headers, I have destroyed so many of those on my trans ams, camaros and such, i just don't like them at all, I'm not looking for much hp gain, just lookin for a better sound. I'll do some more research, thanks guys for the info.

Ok, I kin diggit. Smile

If you're looking for a different sound, did you think about jus ditching the cats and trying a different set of mufflers?

Yes, I need to keep the cats, sniff test is coming back to Maine, friend owns a exhaust shop, he has magnaflows, going to try those first. I understand u can port the stock manifolds for better flow, guys up here have bought a couple sets from me for the race cars. Anyway, I'll probably end up with long tubes when I build a new motor in the future for power since the shorties aren't that good
