| Found this 87 GTA for a smokin' deal and had to grab it. She is rough, but pretty solid, and I only want a rat anyway, has a blown tranny...As you can all imagine, one of my LT1 motors and 4l60E will find it's way in there in the coming months!... Current motor is for sale if you guys know anyone, believe it to be a TPI 305, but not sure(crrect me if I'm wrong, don't know these motors), has headers and runs great. $500 | |

| It's certainly a tpi motor. Here's some info regarding what you bought. Notice the power numbers if it's the (L98) 350 and compare them to the LT1 your planning on using and see if it's worth the hassle http://www.gtasourcepage.com/modelfeatures.html | |

| There are reason why your not keeping the headers to use on the LT1? | |

| The motor is a transplant from (so he says) a 92 Camaro, and according to him is a 305 TPI. How can I tell?
And yes it is worth the hassle for me either way, cause I want to do it...LOL

| You should keep the headers though, like Mark alluded to. They'll bolt onto the LT1... | |

true, but they are cheapos with some wierdly welded 02 bungs, plus the word is that the SLP 4th gen LT1 headers with the y-pipe SHOULD bolt up...I am still researching, but they will likely be replaced with something truly badass Doug | |

| For a minute there I thought you were going say that your parents gave you the "pigeon". I can't tell if there are air tubes on those headers. If there is and you use them cut off the air tubes and weld up the holes. Keep one of your b-body throttle cables for the LT1 swap. Wait a sec. Maybe you don't need a new cable. You do for the TBIs. | |

| ok, decision has been made...I have been inspired by the Bills and the Jim...it will look something like this...(stolen from Jim's satin thread) Except hopefully you wont be able to see the back half of the car through all the white smoke... Doug | |

| I always thought the green ones were pretty cool with the gold wheels. Not that common either. | |

| Nice score Doug! Good thing about a lot of GTA's is they have a Aussie 9-bolt in the back instead of the crappy 7 1/2". Those can handle quite a bit of power and abuse, and they don't have c-clips, so if you ever broke an axle you would'nt lose it (like a 9" rear) Use the 4l60 out of an LT1 car, and put in a LS motor. You could even use the LS PCM to control the trans. | |

| Good score Doug, I can tell you those GTA trans ams are pretty rare. i'd been all over that also, for a play toy, and because they are so rare, and i think you have the rarest color, most were green and white as i recall. | |
