Since I got this car it's been driving me nuts that the map or reading lights whatever you call them, in the rearview don't work,
I assumed blown bulbs, but I finally just found a T7 torx and tried swapping them... NOTHING!
they don't come on when doors are open or when light switch is turned to interior or when switch is pressed.
Only lights inside that work are the under dash ones and the door panel ends. Rear reading lights only work when the switch is pressed.

I checked every fuse (I believe) any thing else I'm missing? Connection is good on mirror and I even unplugged and swapped in a known good mirror. Still a no go,

I read old posts here and I don't believe it's a door jamb switch.

Maybe the wiring is faulty? Get a meter or test light in the socket and check em.

Does the green dimmer switch work on the mirror? If you need to trace back the wiring, the connector for the mirror and overhead lights is in the channel under the carpet by the driver's B-pillar.

Dimmer doesn't work, I put the multimeter on the harness plug on the back of the mirror. NO power to the orange wire (which I believe is hot at all times). I'll check the fuses again. I'm gonna pull it into the garage tonight and see what I can find.

Not sure if it's related but my first roadmaster had the same lights get stuck ON. The dealer told me some part needed to be replaced that controlled those lights which was discontinued. I had to pull the fuse to stop the car from killing the battery every night.

Sounds like the same part is broken but it broke in a more favorable direction... OFF.
