| Hey Wagon guyz Can I just delete the mechanical fan? Or do I have to add Dual electrics? Finally have the wagon running good enough to hear the noise....I'm not impressed. Plus I'm sure I can buy some mileage which I'm always happy with. I didnt do alot of searching. | |

| There's already a secondary electric fan.. You'll need an electric fan and shroud. Order the wiring harness online. I removed mine and ran it all last fall with only the secondary fan. Temp only climbed once, while in traffic. I have the primary electric fan, and fan shroud in place on the car. I still have to order the harness. You'll also need shorter bolts for the water pump to fully delete it. | |

I saw the secondary. I was hoping you'd tell me you dont need the primary...lol Got it, thanks Looks like the harness picks up the fans & the headlights on my impala. Is the RMW the same way? So I'd need to get the PCM programmed for pri & sec? - No Moa wrote:

I've heard of him, I think he's called MANY names.. OK....throw a set on the pile. Maybe the harness where it connects under the fuse box too. I'll check the wagon 1st. Not sure what the easiest way to do this is. (Besides just leaving it the hell alone) Thanks AGAIN BTW | |

| Hi Steve
I converted my RMW a few years ago, pretty easy job. I wasn't pressed to get it back in service.
These are the directions that I followed, great write up: http://www.theherd.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=49
You do not need to reprogram the PCM, I did though, to drop the temperate that the fans would turn on. I believe it is around $100, actually maybe a little more.
Now my 2 cents, if the wagon is your "winter car", I would leave it as is. You will be doing enough repairs on it.

You mean that you need a wagon. This won't affect flow or anything, but the dual electric fans caprices came with a different lower radiator hose. It is a one piece rubber (or silicone) hose from radiator to the water pump. The mechanical setup has a metal section in the middle of two rubber hoses. This metal part a) protects the hose from the nearby fan blades, and b) anchors that section to the engine. Steve

| U can pull the mechanical off and run it with just the secondary through the winter. We can program that to be like the primary, if you want, as long as it is a 95. You can take your time to swap over the electric stuffs. | |

| I have tunercat, but don't know enough to "tune" per se... But I can adjust fan temps and adjust your speedo and stuff on OBD1 cars.

| Thanks for the info & offer of programming help. I do have plenty to do, but that mechanical fan is so....so .....yesterday. It also takes up way to much room under the hood. This car will be the work horse year round. It'll just get alot less use in the summer. | |
