| Jesus Ted, I hope you make out okay from all of this crap, don't let them off lightly and don't F up your back worse than it is! Make sure everything is documented and go to the doctor if you have to...I too hope that idiot has insurance, if the car was being used w/out permission things could get fishy! | |

| Ted, print out or somehow show them your pictures, and receipts for either new stuff, or big money items. Don't say too much that you don't have to, keep it simple and make the car sound nice, don't mention stuff like deleting the A/C and things you were planning to do because then they'll be like "oh, so it needed work?"
You did a lot of the work yourself which won't net you a receipt, but if the appraiser is cool sometimes they'll value the car to be in tip top shape. When my Blazer got hit, I was on the way to the car wash, haha. When the appraiser was coming, I washed the truck carefully without removing "evidence" of the accident and made it look great so I'd get a good appraisal, and I did. My truck was over 15 years old and had over 200K miles, and they still cut me a check for almost 2 grand to fix the damage. I retrospect I would have kept the money and just driven the truck the way it was or sold it for like 1800 bucks, but I was a sentimental idiot and put all the money into having it fixed...lol
The GOOD thing is you have witnesses and the police on your side, those water dept. guys, etc.

| Depending on what you keep...maybe 300 bucks? I'd take stuff like the cat off yourself and scrap it separately then scrap the rest of the shell or whatever...sometimes they ask if you want to get rid of anything when they arrive to pick up the car so it's an opportunity to dump some things you'd have to pay the town to get rid of. I threw all the old carpet from my 93 Blazer (heavy) and a bunch of tires in a car we scrapped...lol | |

| sorry to here about your accident. I was in your shoes a few months ago. I went thru insurance. They suck big time. They wanted to total my purpala but the body shop I took it to fought with me to save it. With the help from the guys in this forum I got my baby fixed. I had to locate some parts myself. Two months later I got my car back. This maybe a blessing in disguise. Take that jerk for what you can. Goodluck. | |

Here's the car BTW:
http://hartford.craigslist.org/cto/2887824649.html That's pretty nice for 500. I think in MA you'd just need the reg. and bill of sale to title it here. The heater fan is probably just clogged with leaves and crap throwing the balance off, mine was when I bought my car, then fixed itself! If my 305 ever died, I'd probably just put a TBI roller cam 350 in and be done with it, so I wonder if that is the case here...

| I don't care what condition it's in. As long as it's 91/92 with skirts. I wanna channel the body down 3" and chop the top 4", and have it lay out on rocker panels It's a future project, just looking for a candidate ahead of time. If the floors were rotted out that would be perfect!

Chick in a Mazda? Boxy caprice? Red light? Sounds effing familiar... Ted I'm so sorry I know how you're feeling right now. Don't strain that back it isn't worth it just relax and watch TV all day and hang with your son. What a shame to see that car go, I was liking it. You will get another one though, a better one at that! For insurance have the car clean and have ALL of your pictures and receipts and everything laid out ahead of time to show them how much THAT car was worth. They wil offer you a check for the value of the worst one online. Send them emails of total cream puffs fetching high prices too! It'll be an agonizing process but don't give up quickly! Buy back sucks! 300 probably wont happen. I could walk away from the two door with one number, I kept it for a grand less!
Good luck with all of this! I hope you come out on top of it all. Again, I'm so sorry it happened.

| Even if their insurance doesn't cooperate, it seems like you could potentially sue and get a lot more than their insurance would pay anyway. Don't give up, and lawyer up if possible. | |

| Ted, It's YOUR insurance that deals with this. I wouldnt say anything without talking to your insurance company. YOUR insurance pays you & goes after THIER insurance company if they see fit (& they're BRUTAL chasing $) Just do what was suggested earlier, gather receipts etc. DONT get a lawyer. unless your going the personal injury route.
