So while trolling FB this morning, I caught wind of a cheap 96 Impala SS for sale. Phyllis seemed more excited than me, and we headed out. 45 minutes later I purchased my first 96 b-body. Needs a lot of love, but for the most part it is rust free, one owner, and un molested. Just not taken care of very well.

Runs rough, but motor sounds good, and tranny shifts good. I don't have it home yet. It will go away for the winter, and in the spring I plan to get it running like a champ.

All I ask is that you preserve the opened yogurt container that was in the door pocket as a reminder of what it once was. And somehow that gargantuan "ABRAHAM" dealer plaque needs to stay with the car.
The tranny shifts good, already better than my car!
Psyched you grabbed it, that SS looked so sad and was in need of a loving owner. Billy just inadvertently founded the Impala SS Rescue League.

Is that the red trunk lights or the drivers door unlock with handle pull? I can't remember.

6N6 is inoperative rear door locks.
For 94, all I see is 6J6 Light package, RR WDO Panel Lights.
Maybe the trunk lights were an add on?

Seems I may have one of the last built. The last Impala to roll off the Assembly line on Friday Dec 13th 1996 was 194809. Mine has a build date of Thursday Nov 21st,1996, and the vin is 190214. That is a difference of 4595. That number is a total of Chevrolet b-bodys only not including Cadillac, and Buick. And since there was a total of 41k Impalas built between July 95, and December 96, my car could be closer than a thousand away from the end of production. Just some useless over thought info that rattles through my head.
And what is this? I never had one of these before. LOL. I would have preferred T84s over a A23.

Do a search, there's a ton of info on that glass.
Cosmetically/esthetically, it looks awesome, reduces in car heat absorption and UV damage to plastics, was available from the OEM (often for large "greenhouse" glass/high optioned vehicles) and may still be obtained from several sources, but watch out for inferior copies.
It was originally a GM/PPG thing, and subsequently there was a problem with at least one aftermarket maker that resulted in a non-PPG "embedded-antenna" version having significantly reduced FM & AM radio reception.
It was originally installed in my 96 SS, and can attest that there is definitely a problem with E-Z-pass usage, but that can be overcome with plate-mounts, or simply opening the window and hand-holding the transponder.

I am very familiar with the good, and bad of Sungate. I have never had a car with one in it. I happened to glance at the pass corner of the glass, and saw it was the one option besides a sunroof that I have never had in a b or d body.
