Caprice fuel issues Empty
PostSubject: Caprice fuel issues   Caprice fuel issues EmptyFri May 10, 2013 12:49 pm

Some of us Badasses were talking about car problems and I brought up my Caprice, the coolant temp sensor was suggested to be a culprit. I got it started and it was running like crap. I unplugged the coolant sensor in the pump and it starts up and runs GREAT.

Now, the main issue is that the fuel pump does not self prime. I cleaned the grounds on the coil, and they are all intact. Any other suggestions?

Fuel pump grounds? I know the wagon one is on the frame.

Pump won't turn on at all? Or just runs and doesn't reach psi at the regulator?

If it's running and doesn't reach pressure you might have a cracked line INSIDE the tank.

Sender grounds in trunk drivers side hinge

Fuel pump relay? Underhood fuse box.

Did you say you did the pump & sender once?

I did the pump but not the sender. Relay is good. I can manually prime the pump via test wire. After that it runs fine. Problem in key on = no prime. Today I put in my stock wagon 94 computer and a new coolant temp sensor. Runs good now. I'm going through the fuel pump diagnostics today.
