| New guy here, hailing from Bangor Maine. I am a prospective Impala SS owner. I have been casually looking for awhile, but I recently sold my last car and finally decided to take the plunge and go looking for an SS. My only other set of wheels right now is my 1985 Chevy K10: I have a bead on an SS right now. I will keep you posted on whether or not I decide to go for it. | |

| BEAUTIFUL truck! More pics if you've got them!
check the Craigslist finds thread in the forsale section. A member's former SS is for sale IN Maine. Good luck with the search!

| Nice truck, and good movie too...haha. Welcome! I'm sure you'll find something soon, the market seems a bit slow for these cars and there are plenty to pick from. Be sure to stick around after you find one too. | |

| Thanks guys. Yeah a lot of guys like to slam these trucks. I would love to throw an additional 4 inch lift on her, she currently has a 2 inch lift. Get me some 35s, that would be great.
The Impala I am looking at actually is Glen's, so we will see how it goes. I will call the guy tonight and shoot him an offer.

Welcome! Nice truck!....... A little too tall for me but it's still the best style c/k10 I think it has to do with the fact that these were the last of the REAL cars and trucks GM made. My opinion anyway.

| Agreed! I'm selling my 86 right now for dirt, but if I decide to buy another one it'll be a 73-80 3+3 crew cab dually, and YUP, I'd slam it to the ground!! I grew up with them and we always had c10's suburbans and full size cars! | |

| I have seen a few slammed crew cabs. I see more slammed 73-87 trucks than I do lifted ones. Either way, they are the best looking trucks made.
So I am picking up the SS tomorrow afternoon and driving it back with my dad. First plan is to fix a few of the cosmetic issues. Pretty minor stuff.

Pull the start fuse and tell her it's broke in dec. She would kill me then for "buying another piece of junk"! I got time to mull it over. I still have the K10 though I don't usually drive that in the winter either. Too many vehicles I love.

Buy the fluid film kit and FLOOD the underside of the K10 with it, use the goopy stuff from the gallon paint can bucket on the wheel wells as the other stuff will wash off from the wetness on the roads. Get some chainsaw oil inside the body cavaties too. You could drive it for years in the winter and be fine!

| Well I need to touch up the POR 15 job on her as well as do the SS now. My wife would likely want me to sell the truck as she thinks its a money pit. The SS was supposed to be the winter car. Now, I am not so sure.
Truck would need some more work to be truly ready for sale anyway, like a radio (doesn't have one) and I need to weld on the new cab supports (most folks may not look at that, but I have the parts, so might as well do it). The rockers, cab corners and cab floor were all just replaced with new metal and the paint is a few years old.

The impala is good to drive now and you can do things over the winter, finish the truck up before the snow! You've got the perfect fleet ya know? The best truck to have and one of the best cars to have.

| You wanna buy my 2wd 86 c10 for $800? Lol it's enough of a POS to run winters, but good enough to not scrap out. Needs mufflers that's about it! Besides a little body work. New cab corners, inner and outer rockers and floor pans on drivers side. 350/350 combo new brakes new shocks new suspension parts, 6' fleetside.......save the SS. | |

The best truck to have and one of the best cars to have. Yeah you're right. I drove the truck a few times in the snow, and she does a great job at it. I just hate the rust bug. Once I replace the supports and do another new coat of POR, she should be good to go. I guess it just comes down to what vehicle I want to hold onto for longer.
