But as a child Andy Griffith was the first actor I admired and looked up to. And through the years he has just always been there like that uncle that you have only seen a couple times in your life, so to speak. And his passing today at 86 is actually a shock. He will be missed.

I watched it on "TV Land" all the time when I was little! My grandfather and mother told me to use the theme song to learn how to whistle, once I could do the whole thing I was a master whistler!

Agreed wholeheartedly here, he just seemed like an all around good guy. This made me very sad when I heard it, the show was definitely way before my time and he was doing Matlock when I was little, but I watched TAGS on TV in reruns all the time back in the day, the theme was burned into my brain. RIP
