| Yeah, so a few weeks ago Al asked me if I wanted to go to a Turbo Buick cookout. I said "Are you gonna get the TTA on the road for it?" And he said "yeah!" So I said "HELL YEAH!" And it was today. In Conneticut. And we went. And it was awesome. HUGE thanks to Al for ruining my life and letting me drive a silly little V6 Turbo on the highway. I now officially hate him. That car has power EVERYWHERE! And it's effin FAST! I could not for the life of me keep it under 80mph on the highway. Coasting. Even uphill! Uphill, if I didn't move my foot on the gas, the load would create boost and it'd creep up to 90 or 100 UPHILL, without me giving it any more gas! I would so get arrested in a turbo car. Start saving your bail money, K? The cookout was cool. There were probly 30 turbo cars there. A bunch of boring black GN's. A GNX. A 68 Chevelle with a GN drivetrain. 81ish ElCamino with a GM drivetrain. A 7 second GN that was being rebuilt because it was too slow. Some other crazy fast 6 bangers, too. I got to meet "Cotton" and "Otto"... THE NAMES in the GN world. Pretty cool guys. The caravan down with a few NH and MA guys was fun. Boring and uneventful on the way down. But we left late and got gas and even did a driver swap on the way back, and I STILL passed everyone before we got to 495. I love that little six... Food was great too! Pulled pork and burgers and dogs and tips and steamahs and all the junkfood and sides you could imagine. Very cool. Not bad for just one of their own putting on at his shop! Here's a couple pics. Sorry, I took them before all the cars showed up. On my phone. And failed the rest of the time. And the money shot: I absolutely fell in love with that Limited. Or whatever the Hell it was. Aside from Al's TA, that was my favorite car there. BY FAR. Gorgeous. And totally me. Like I said, now I hate Al. _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... | My Buick could be made into a 4 door version of that limited pretty easily you know. Not even that expensive to do the drivetrain swap since my car has the right trans and motor mount provisions already | |

| Wow. I am getting horny! A Turbo-T Limited, and Turbo T/A. (GNX would have made the trifecta of rare turbo Tees) Welcome to the sickness.

| I've always wanted a Turbo Buick since I saw the guy in a BUM Equipment sweatshirt doing a crazy burnout in the elementary school parking lot near my house in like 1990, and this thread made me want one even more. That looked like a lot of fun! | |

I think Bill will always own a wagon but just in case: http://www.beforeblack.net/

I think Bill will always own a wagon but just in case: http://www.beforeblack.net/ 1980 The car had a mild frontal restyle, with quad headlights and amber indicators mounted beneath. The metric 200 3-speed automatic transmission became standard on all models and a new Chevrolet-built 229 CID V6 with 2-barrel Rochester carburetor replaced both the 200 CID V6 of 1979 and the Buick engine offered on all 1978 models and the 1979 Landau as the standard engine in 49 states (California cars still got the Buick engine). A new option for 1980 was Buick's turbocharged version of the 231 CID V6 rated at 170 hp (130 kW). Other optional engines included 267 and 305 CID versions of the Chevrolet small-block V8 with up to 155 hp (116 kW). There were a total of 13,839 turbo Monte Carlo's for 1980. 1981 The body was restyled with the other GM mid-size formal coupes (Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, Pontiac Grand Prix, Buick Regal). It featured a smoother profile than the previous models and new vertical taillights similar to the 1973-1977 models. Engine offerings were carried over, including the standard 229 CID Chevrolet V6 (231 CID Buick V6 in California) an optional 267 CID V8 (not available in California), a 305 CID V8 in the base and Landau models, and a turbocharged 170 hp (130 kW) 231 CID Buick V6 in the Monte Carlo Turbo. There were a total of 3,027 Monte Carlo Turbos for 1981. This would make the Monte Carlo Turbo one of the rarest Monte Carlo's built, even rarer than the 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe. The Monte Carlo Turbo appeared slightly different than other Monte Carlos that year because in addition to the turbo motor it also was equipped with a small hood scoop on the left side of the hood. It also had Turbo 3.8 badges with Chevrolet bowtie on the sides of the hood scoop, on the trunk lid, and on the right side of the dash. An automatic transmission, power steering and power front disc brakes were standard equipment. While this car was considered by some to be much better looking (and appeared more aerodynamic) than its Buick Regal, Pontiac Grand Prix, and Olds Cutlass cousins, only one team tried to make a go of it in NASCAR cup racing. While the big Monte Carlo was the dominant body style in the late 1970s, winning 30 or so races, the downsized (and cleaned-up) 1981 body would only take three checked flags in the 1981 and 1982 seasons when it was run.

| If any of you guys are serious there are some deals out there . I have prob had 50 of them over the years .. YES I was a devoted Buick guy from 86to 2000. Then got tired of them an concentrated on my daughters cars. IF ya do get one stick with the 86/87 one's. They are the intercooled ones. Minor mods..chip, K&N , dumptube or good exhaust, and a set of drag radials and you are in the 12s with a little practicing getting the car out of the hole. High 11s low 12s with minor tweaks is not that hard. Only bad thing will be if you can stop there and be happy You can have a street driven 9 sec car that your wife could drive around if your wallet is big enuff Now for the best "Buick Turbo" car out there look at the 89 TTAs. Those cars are sleepers an most people have no respect for them because they don't know what the car is as your kicking there butt. Wifes stocker back in 1990 ran high 11s .. First day at the track with 300 miles on it it ran mid 12s. That was the best car I have ever owned as far as the "fun factor" goes. NOT the fastest but sure did make a lot of people scratch their heads as we went flying by. | |

As a heart attack! There is just something about taking off like any other V6 at a intersection, only to be in full tire roast mode on the other side of the intersection. If not for the need for 4 door car at the time, I would have not even have bought an impala ss. Mine was show quality with t-tops, and 79k on it. And mods up the ying yang. Kenne Bell Was my best friend |

Here comes the wagon "FOR SALE" sign again... He's got that figured out a long time ago Steve. He keeps the FOR SALE sign on all the time and then underneath he has a slider thing with the words YES and NO. So depending if it's a keep or sell week, he has either YES or NO showing. Similar to the Vacancy / No Vacancy at motels. Actually he can't sell it for at least a week, Phyllis just bought him new headlights for his birthday. Although that probably won't stop him. Tom C.

Dammm... looking at your engine set up .. What does it run ??? What would it take to get a wagon in say the mid 12s ?? Oh if you ever saw a Buick Turbo V6 motor apart you'd be shocked with the stock junk they used BUT it does take a beating !! Cast crank, junk rods an wimpy pistons .
