| So with the addition of my t56 now, i need to work on getting some more stuff, i'm going to install it all in the purple 95 impala. The rearend already needs bearings, so y not! Trust me it will not be purple when its done, i traded a 94 caprice for a paint job.
Now as i understand you can't rebuild the GM posi?
I have 373 gears in a caprice, is the impala ss carrier the same?
Is the impala ss rear end really wider? I can't use the caprice rear and rebuild that, completely?
I don't have the money to spend $400-500 on a new carrier, so i'll be going the cheaper route, i'm not going to race, or drag this will just be a fun kind of shoot to the store and the car shows type deal. | |

| Caprice rear is narrower. The only thing that will change on the SS is the way the wheels sit in the wheel wells .So if you have the SS wheels on the cappy now that's how they'll look on the SS. Axle lenghts= One lenght for the Chevy andBuick Wagon (the longest at 1642.5MM long) The B4U which is in the middle at 1598.0 MM long and finally the 9C1 which is the shortest of the 3 at 1566.0 MM long. | |

| You could always run adapters/spacers to put the wheels back where they belong, too. I just got a Tru-trac and master Timkin install kit from Dan at Clear Image for 500 bucks shipped. Pretty good deal. Better than any other interweb prices I could get. _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... | Are the standard Caprice and Impala SS rear ends the same width, with just the disc brake rear end from the 9C1 being narrower overall? | |

| The Info is out there if you search.I don't know if there is any data on the SSforum left from the crash and it's not on theherd.com. But it all goes back to the original 91 fender skirts = rear end was not as wide to facilate tire changes. With the ss no fender skirts bigger wheels yada yada. So I beileve all caprices/9c1s are the same. Except the b4u . I actually got those axle stats from Larry . | |

That looks about right Mark, providing it's a 8.5" rear. I don't know about the 7.5" or 7.6" whatever it is. Navy Lifer on the ISSF I bet would have all that info.
