PostSubject: Does anyone have a posi chuck?   Thu Sep 09, 2010 1:33 pm

Hey guys,

I need a series 3 carrier I believe so I can run my 3.90 gears. Right now I have 2.93's in that rear end I bought, so I cant install my gear set. I know that there are ways around that (like a ring gear spacer), but I am not interested in going that route.

I have the carrier from a 96 roadmaster, so I believe its 30 spline?

Anyone have one cheap that I can get quick?

You can use that carrier. It's the 2.56's that have the smaller one.

Yup. If it's a 2.93 rear, then it's the bigger one.

It was always my understanding that the '94-'96 cars only came with the standard "large" 8.5 or the 7.5 housing. I thought the small carrier 8.5 housing wasn't available on the b-bodies in those years. I know I've never seen parts for them.

2.93=8.5 diff, 2.56=7.5
