Wipers and wheels Empty
PostSubject: Wipers and wheels   Wipers and wheels EmptyMon Jul 07, 2014 5:57 pm

So first off. My wipers seem loose. New blades on wet windshield, and they chatter. When turned off, I can push them down another 3 inches to the stops on the cowl. Is there a common problem with b-body wipers I am un familiar with? Before I rip the cowl off, what should I be looking for or need to replace?

I want to buy new or used aftermarket wheels. The ones I have seen so far in 17 or 18 inch that fit our cars seem to be truckish looking, black steel, or way way expensive. Are there options for aluminum rims with a machine, grey painted, or polished finish for under $150 ea?

Turn wipers on and let them cycle a few times then shut off.
Let them rest wherever they are. Loosen nuts and pry wiper arm up. rotate until they touch the stop and then press them back down. Make sure the nuts are tight.

I would also check the rubber grommets on the wiper motor when the wipers are running to see if there is play in the motor to firewall mounting

Might be time for one of those wiper arm swaps from a later model Buick that I read about on the big board.

As for wheels, a guy on the Longroof forum had (maybe still has?) a set of nice looking rims with nearly new tires for something like $750 shipped.

Thanks guys. I was hoping it was something common that I was unaware of. I will pull the arms, and cowl this weekend, and have a looksy.

If I can't find a nice set of stockers, I want to buy new rims, and tires.
Thinking about these with 255/45/18 tires
