| Here's the specs 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 4.3 v6, auto, 2wd Reg. cab long bed 208,000 miles Here's the story. The company I work for runs these trucks to deliver tires across New England. Around 200k or so, they replace them. This one made it to 208,000 before the transmission gave up and they called it quits. I've been on a waiting list to get a retired truck, well it was my turn to purchase. In the last 30k, the truck has got new; Ball joints Rack w/outers Hub bearings Front&Rear brakes (2) new tires Full tune up Ok, so it's a RCLB v6 auto 2wd with plenty of dents. I know, what's the point? Well for $500.00 I really couldn't pass it up I'm going to have the trans rebuilt, then when the 4.3quits it will get a proper transplant. Apparantly I'd only need to change the fuel lines, motor mounts, engine & harness to do a v8 swap. Ill update this thread with any progress I make. Thanks for looking -Paul | |

| Score....that's pretty nice for 500 bucks, tranny or not. I like how the vinyl seats in the 03-06 trucks look just like the leather seats, lol.

They're not bad actually lol, but the drivers bottom is torn. I was going to ask you about that from when you did the seat in the Hoe, do you think GM still stocks this stuff? How did you go about finding a part #?

How did you go about finding a part #? I'll bet you can get a vinyl cover for that, Paul. I got my leather seat cover, as well as a new cushion and the trim plate for the power seat controls through mikiehews on here, he ordered them for me through work and the price was nice too. I bet the vinyl one in that color would be cheaper. If the foam is all mushed down and you're replacing the cover, I would replace the foam as well because it will just rip again, prematurely, due to the slack in the cover over the depression in the foam... I forget how I got the part number. I think I kept looking up the part numbers on sites like gmpartseast.com or whatever that still show the diagrams for difference vehicles. Those sites usually hide the first two digits of the part numbers to make it harder to find them on your own, but it can still be done via Google and detective work...also, Mike confirmed part numbers for me too, he probably would have had them without me even looking them all up now that I think of it. I still want to get a Denali dash bezel but that's on the back burner for now...

| Thanks guys, I'm going pull the tire rack off the back before I do anything lol. Got a chance to look it over thoroughly this morning, all looks good besides the transmission, and the blinkers don't flag they just stay lit up. I'm pretty excited to have a new truck for such short money lol | |

| Great truck. I had a 2003 2500HD 2WD that I bought for $1000. Sold it with over 300k miles for $1300. That thing is still on the road today. | |

I see those 2wd 2500HDs online for cheap a lot, it has crossed my mind about getting one before

| Any 4L60e gurus here?
Here's the deal with the transmission;
Goes forward no problem. But no matter what gear you select, D, r, n, 1, whatever, it's always in drive. The shifter mechanism works fine, I think it's something mechanical inside the transmission that broke, just happened to be in Drive when it did. Am I looking at a full rebuild? I got a quote of 1200 today for a full rebuild w/1 year warranty. He didn't see the truck, just gave me a worst-case scenario price

Just a thought. | |

| When in park and you move the truck, do you hear a clicking sound? It should engage the park rod (or whatever its called) and should click if its actually shifting inside the transmission. If not, maybe the linkage failed? I never rebuilt one, just throwing ideas out here from what I see in the rebuild book. you can download it from me HERE if you want to take a look at it. | |

| Pick up a 1-year warranty junkyard trans from a place like Bow Auto Parts. Probably run you around $600-700 and have a warranty. I am running one in my LS Impala...
$700, install it yourself, and be done with it. _________________ 1996 Impala SS - 45K original miles - 5.3 LS swap - Brand new Bilsteins...WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

| I'd rather just spend the money to get it rebuilt, then risk a junkyard trans that coulda also be shot.. Pulled that ridiculous cage off the bed today And this really grossed me out, I was cleaning out the inside of the truck and started to was the windows. This paper towel was from my first pass on the INSIDE of the back window. Disgusting. | |

| At my store, I keep the tire delivery trucks CLEAN. My take home Silverado is spotless in and out. I even detail the wheel wells in that thing. OWL on the Michelin LTX MS2s are always gleaming. I've been ordering a lot of tires out of you guys Sagamore store and most of the delivery trucks look beat. But, I'm sure your stores are more busy. Luckily the interiors can take a beating on these trucks. | |

| I wish they would keep these trucks clean LOL. Most of the trucks are pretty well beat up, interior/exterior wise, but the company DOES maintain them mechanically very well. The interior is dirty for sure, but almost mint aside from the torn drivers seat.
Any of you Chevy guys know where I could get a center console for this thing? The damn middle seat doesn't fold down its just stationary! Wtf!? I need an armrest! Lol

Lol I've got a set of light grey (Almost tan looking) cloth power bucket seats with center console that I would let go for cheap money...like $100...They have a couple blemishes, but no holes or rips. Let me know if its anything you might be interested in. _________________ 1996 Impala SS - 45K original miles - 5.3 LS swap - Brand new Bilsteins...WHAT A DIFFERENCE!
