Little update...

So my plates came in on Friday. It was epic.




And I had picked up a set of 17" Legacy GT wheels with snow tires on them, but the tires were too short, so I sold the tires for what I'd paid for the rims AND tires! Woot! Free rims muthafuckah!!!!! They were a little rashed and knicked and dirty, so I sanded em and painted them the dark metallic bronze that's on the bottom of the car.




I picked up a pair of snows the right size yesterday. And today I'm picking up another pair. Hope to get the snows mounted up tomorrow and get em on the car this week. Getting it ready for a SNOW-X on the 27th! That's gonna be a blast! Autocrossing in the snow! WOOT!

What could possibly go wrong?

Crovo you put far too much effort into cars that are supposed to be beaters, but it normally makes for an interesting thread so I'm ok with it.

I also want video of Snow-X!

one hour combined for Diag and R&R

15 minutes of getting JB mixed and the broken bits to take hold and then an additional 20 minutes at 250* in the toaster oven for that crispy crunch!

BAM!

Clean the corrosion off the beads with a wire brush before you go get tires mounted. Some places dont even bother and they will leak. Those wheels should look nice on there.

Couldn't tell you how many hours of labor I've got into the winter beater wagon......

So I guess that means that my thread full of fail hasn't exactly failed because it continues to exist, doesn't it? And if it continues, no matter what the topic, it hasn't failed? But if it ends here, it's a fail then? But doesn't that also make it a success since it was about fail in the first place? So then it's a win-win. Or a lose-lose. Which are both kind of a fail anyways...

So.... Mini Fail alert.... Not quite an Epic Fail.

Had the passenger rear caliper seize up on me last week. I thought it had a hill-holder feature like the older scoobies did because sometimes it wouldn't roll at a "not quite level ground" stop light with the clutch in. Guess I was wrong. Got to the gas station after a highway ride one day last week and I smelled brakes bad and found the culprit smoking like a SOB. Oops.



Quick pad slap today with a new caliper and 80 bucks later, she's back on the road. I gotta say, SUPER easy brake job on this cars! One bolt and the caliper swings up out of the way, pop the pads out, new ones in, swing caliper back down and put in the bolt. Done!

Seems quicker now that I don't have a brake dragging. LOL! Maybe it'll get better gas mileage now?
