| I've been eyeballing that car for weeks, few funny things like the rub strips being wavy and the added emblems to the sail panels make me think it was repainted at some point. ' My set of chrome rally wheels with the BFGs would look good on there. | |

Believe it or not I had an exact situation almost happen like that.
Few years back my old lady's friends boyfriend told me there was a 91 caprice for sale in providence for $700 and he was gonna go look. At the time I had no kids so me and my old lady jumped in the car with them and went down to providence. As we are getting close to the address I notice a grey 91 caprice idling in a parking lot a few blocks before the destination, we show up at the address, after dark and like 15 ppl come out of the house. No car there and they barely speak english. They avoided all questions on where the car was or who the owner was. Etc, To me it seemed they thought this guy was coming alone with $700 cash and they planned to relieve him of said currencies.
Just a quick story to say that not all places/deals should be visited/made alone. Yup, I'm a big bastard, but you wont find me looking at any car on CL without being well armed, especially if I am going by myself, no matter what state laws I may break.
Its funny you say that. Even on the flip side, I was selling a car on Craigslist. A car pulled up with like 5 African Americans from central falls, of all places. I was like "I need to go get the keys, hang on". Grabbed my SIG 226 and off for a test drive. Purposefully went by the police station like "man, I was just there last night. Gotta go back tonight. Gotta love this shift" Dude was like "oh you're a cop" Hahahahahaha. They didn't buy the car. Still have it. That was like 2 years ago. Glad we didn't sell it.

| My brother was trying to sell his boxy Caprice years ago on CL. He had me post an ad for him, then he didn't call anyone back, then he fixed the car and started using it again (I forget what had gone wrong in the first place.) Then the fuel pump died and he parked it in the driveway. Unbeknownst to me he gave the address to some dude in NYC who was insistent upon trying to get the car running in the driveway and DRIVE IT HOME after it had sat, and did not run anymore. Out of nowhere on a Saturday night at like 2am some boxy Caprice with rally stripes, MCSS wheels, and NO exhaust pulls up, and like 2 bubble Caprices. Woke the whole street up. 5 dudes and it turns out a child just walk right into the yard in the dark and start looking at the Caprice and MINE as well and some little kid voice yells out "WHAT ABOUT DA BUBBLE BUTT ONE?" That woke me up. My brother was across the street at our neighbors on the porch drinking beer and watching it all unfold. I wanted to slap him across the face with a trout and ask him what the hell he was thinking even responding to an email from someone like that, and why would you tell them the address? They were up here already for something else but who in their right mind shows up to look at a car in the middle of the night without even calling or anything? I put stuff on CL for sale but I usually meet them at like Dunkin' Donuts, and if someone even does so little as types out "yo wud u take pmts" or "inbox me your # I'll put $$ in yo hand fuh dat" I don't even bother wasting my time. You gotta scan people like it's a resume. | |

| Matt, that's nuts! I would've been so pissed! The trout across the face is epic funny.
You're right tho. I never respond to garbage like that. I recently posted a CL job ad and I had people 1) NOT sending a résumé as required and 2) I got stuff like "yo I'm innerested in tha posision, call me xxx-xxx-xxxx".
I think not. Why would I call you? The interview process starts at correspondence. I'm trying to fill a responsible mature position. Not sell drugs. Lol. Is that racist? No because I'm sure its a mix of people. Its the culture that fails people.

| My buddy told me about this SS the other night, I was helping him trade a car on a U-Fail trailer today and it was empty part of the day, so we took a gander for the hell of it.
http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/4193366693.html
The car is from FL and the owner bought it new in Tampa, but it does not look like your typical FL car. There is some rust on it in places. Some scale on frame, floors, B-pillar bottoms. It is sitting on steel wheels with snow tires.
Trunklid, and lower rear passenger quarter are dented. Bad paint on spoiler, grille, bumpers, etc. Car starts and runs pretty nice but has a problem where it bogs a little. I didn't drive it.
All the seats are torn and need to be replaced with Bonnies or something. Dash pad is brown. Headliner is all ripped, it looks like someone drove with a dog standing up and clawing at the visors and ceiling...visors are bad too. The gray carpet is very, very dirty and would at least need to come out of the car if you wanted to try to clean it. There was trash in the car, pine needles all over it, etc. The seller has the SS wheels w/no tires.
He told me he'd take 1200 for it, we passed. lol. I don't think anything is surprising considering the asking price. Could you clean it up and make it a driver? Probably. But it's not some car you can douche out and put out for 3 grand. I'm just putting it out there if you're looking for a cheap SS...you'd just have to do a lot of work and basically hang onto it. I think the console was okay but I didn't look super close, there were certain broken things inside, etc.

| I'm assuming, and hoping you did buy the car Billy. It's right up your alley, and much nicer than other cars you've had in the past, nome-sayne? lol.
I could have gotten him down for sure, but I didn't want the car- haha. I have one SS that is very nice with a blown tranny, and 2 other cars with no room for a fourth one, no place to work, and it's currently gale force winds and 25 degrees out here as we put up a tent garage today. Hahaha.
This is a car for someone who want's a super cheap SS to mess around with without the intentions of flipping, because while it's all there it kinda needs everything. I think it would make a great driver!

| I went and saw this car. Don't have any pics, car is kinda crusty but is a 88 9C1 with 170k. Is blue ext with blue int. Someone put in Olds seats. Spoke with the owner and he used it to tow his 14ft boat. Has owned it since 1995, but now has a truck. He wants it gone out of his yard. Without even asking he would take $300. Car runs and drives needs bodywork and typical stuff, would make good crasher or parts car. I have his contact info if someone wants it, can PM me as he didn't want his phone number on the internet. Here is the link, http://newlondon.craigslist.org/cto/4210528099.html I don't have the room for it, thought would pass it along here. Bob | |

| Found this diamond in the rough on CL. AD doesn't say it but it's a 1A2 wagon, looks like former NYPD by the paint under the hood. Get it!

I want it but no room for a rebuild project, would likely need some rigorous maintenance to be a driver.

If it's a true 56k and not 1,056,600 miles then it's a great deal! TBI car. Easy and cheap. Pull that TPI engine from the c10 and stuff it in this! Park the truck out in the field

Soooo whats the issue? Why couldn't you buy it, is it locked in some estate sale bs? Lots of taxes to pay off? All I need is a bill of sale here, so as long as there is no legal bs to deal with, it could be mine.....

| That was back in march it sat for a long time it was an estate/court issue in the past ten months I purchased a caprice and roadmaster which looked better and roadmaster very very powerful so don't really need it at this time more of a want now and with four kids I'm probably going to pass on it financially after giving it some good thought | |

| It was wrapped up in the courts so so long I gave up and looked for other wagons and found great ones it came out again bout a month ago for 3500 and he just dropped it to 1999 probably realized it wasn't worth 3500 its nice but has some tiny rust bubbles on passenger door and faded paint in front other then that the thing is beautiful and a very nice find!! | |
