A little 9C1 info gem I came across

For the 9C1 gurus here (and anyone else that cares even the least bit) Apparently, the CHP never ordered '96 9C1's. They used 94/95. I never knew that. So, when someone on ebay is selling a "real" 1996 CHP Caprice, no! Heres a link to the CHPforums. Looks like a bunch of CHP guys and police car restorers. Theres also a pic of '92 Camaros coming down the line ready for patrol.

I've also never seen a CHP car that was ordered with posi, either. I had one and it was non posi, so I always look at the spid when I see one for sale and they never have it. When I tell people that they say "you dont need it in good weather" I need it in good weather all the time.

Well, working at a dealer, I decided to ask my sales manager. A very easy explaination was that it's all a matter of money. The police dept's usually go with whoever accepts the lowest bid. He also said there is a little politcal B/S thrown in there too, like " if you whole dept buys Fords we'll will give a good break on the first civilian purchases you make" etc

Compnine says 587 '95 cars came in Mass. State Police colors. That's also about the number that I heard that they bought. I have only seen '95 MSPs. Never a '94 or '96.

Wonder how many NHSP cars there were? I know there was at least one IA2

I think all the NH cars were sold through Banks Chevy.

I guess that makes sense. Then again you have the depts. that only buy one brand. My town is so full of ford worshipers that seeing ANY town vehicle that is made by GM is a shock(Chrysler products haven't been owned by the town for years). They have a G6 undercover car, which is the only undercover that actually fools anyone in town too There were never any 9C1s when I was growing up, only the older body style CVPI

Just catching up on some threads here, and wondered if Compnine was back up and running as of your post from April 30th?
Be cool if the info was reposted elsewhere for people to read as that site had some good stuff.

I do believe it is up and running. Someone posted it not too long ago I think.
