Bare top FWB question

Anyone know what happens when you pull the vinyl top off a caddy that has a moon roof?? Will it be sticking up after? Any adjustments to tighten it down? Any one know where i can get rear window trim to make a vinyl top car and bare top?

Change of heart for selling the FWB? That thing would look great without the vinyl roof!

IIRC, the back glass is completely different for a naked one. And the quarter panek joint will most likely need to be finished. Vinyl top cars didn't get the same finish work there, so sez teh interwebs...

Well there is one in the junk yard right now so I can get glass and trim, I'm more concerned about the moon roof sticking up. Anyone here have a moon roof in any of Theirs? (current or previous)

I'm tired of not having this car look the way I want it!!!
I'm gonna do the body work and it's getting satin black paint
All chrome is getting black paint
all wood grain... Black paint

But I'd rather it not have a vinyl top, I don't wanna pull it to find that the moon roof is gonna mess up my plans I'll weld the damn thing shut if ihave to!!!

......Does the glass sit flush with vinyl roof?


.... If it does then it will sit higher than the metal roof line when the top is removed.....

......... probably just a spacer in there so it sits even. ......

..... I think pulling the fiberglass shell and removing the glue is your biggest challenge. Your over thinking the moonroof.

I've got plenty of time to mess with removing the top. The moon roof sits flush with the vinyl but has a Chrome bezel around it. I'd hare to mess with the roof only to find I just made it leak! It's water tight right now.
Honestly If I removed the interior from this car and stuffed it in yours I'd be a happy camper. I just don't have the room to put another caddy until I at least scrap the Buick wagon shell. I want a caddy slammed with as much black on it as possible... Like at night all you hear is pipes!

This one was on CL about 3 months ago when I bought the gold 96.
He was asking $6500 or something. And then ended up sending it to the yard.......

Every time I look at that FW I'm drawn to it.
That car looks sweet. Lose the doors but....wow, I really like it.

In an hour I'll be up there for half of it! Sooo you'll get to see it all the time at meets. ( twice actually, including Monstro )
I'm still broken up about it, I'm gonna snap a few more shots before stealing stuff. Coilnt have asked for a better donor car! Too bad it's in the yard I'd buy the whole thing if I had the room to store it.

And Indigo, I may be interested in some of your stainless trim if you are salvaging the black stuff from that one. Try to save as many of the clips as you can! GM don't make them anymore!!!

You got it Bill! Any tips on removing the actual clips? I gotta go back it was pouring and I was soaked to the bone, but I got a really nice shaved good and black bumper

I did manage to get the passenger quarter trim off by pulling up and out, but I didn't wanna break the clips trying to remove them, if there is a procedure on correctly removing I'd like to know!!!!

Oh and BTW anyone interested....... This car was NOT a bare top, it was made into one! The glass was the factory glass it just had the seals that surround the glass missing, but it didn't look bad. The roof looked beautiful. Good body work whoever did it!
And them white walls were regular black walls painted white!

I just looked at your car Chris and I think it is the satin or the angle of that pic or something. Yours look great! The satin one in the picture looks like a 2500 truck that needs a plow...

Ok now I'm going to enjoy the wagon swap for that front clip! Post pics of that ASAP! Also if that's the case with the tires screw it! Just grind a normal set of white walls down.

I'm really surprised that car went into a yard, there has to be some reason for it other than the owner deciding the short bus was more geared toward their special needs in transportation.

Mine is quickly headed towards looking like that (minus cowl hood/rims).
there's enough " " in the paint job I have to warrant a repaint in satin black

I'm yanking the top come spring time and I'm already looking at another air setup run with air-brake antifreeze to lower it to 1" from the ground and so I can run it all year round.
