If its howling, your kidding your self going after just the seal. I'm not worried about the work, its the results that are potentially problematic. If you dont understand that link your going in hoping for the best. Hey, if you dont try it you'll never know. Does your e-brake work?
E-brake works. Honestly, the car doesn't howl anymore. When we did the fuel pump and chit we did fresh gear and posi oil, its fine now. I also have a feeling it was the crap tires I used to have on the back that made the noise. . I was also being a bit facetious when I said I didn't get it. I read the post, and while it was a bit verbose I got what he was trying to say. I've also read thru the procedure in the FSM. Also, I don't expect it to be a 5 minute job. But it also seems rather straightforward to do.

Ouch But seriously. I know... it needs new paint...someday.... The FSM is an excellent source. All I was saying about this was that your skipping of many steps in the FSM procedure will require skills that are not covered there. For example: You are replacing the yoke without knowing that the stack height is actually identical, to the 1/1000 of an inch, old versus new. Therefore, the thread count method might be close, but the nut clocking re-position will be useless. As it turns out, pinion bearing pre-load actually IS important to get correct, meaning "within an acceptable range". That is why I had mentioned the sleeve repair, so that you could reuse your yoke, and save some money. http://www.ringpinion.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProdID=8771&Product=YMS99193&Brand=Yukon_Mighty_Seal I had assumed that anybody finding my posts to be impenetrable, would simply post some response like "M-d-Z, WTF are you trying to say anyway, man?" Or at least PM me to see just how full of "toro-ka-ka" I really am. I try to be thorough without going on too long, but every detail that is important, IMO, will be posted. In the future, feel free to just ask me to explain myself, kuz if I can do any of these procedures I post on, then EVERYBODY here can do them as well or better. I have already learned A TON of stuff from reading what you guys share here! *

| I got held up too! I went to a fire/party/mayhem thing at my friend's in NH last night. Long story short, I'm just getting home to Reading right now, wearing the same clothes I slept in and I have ashes in my hair. LOL
I might be down the S. Shore later to pick up a few parts though..

| Thanks for the grub, parts, and the attempt at sequentials. I got a few good ideas from today. Learned a lot from Glenn, and saw 2 mud covered chicks. I still say we should have hosed em down right there. Anyway, it was good seeing everyone, I look forward to the fall round up.

Thanks Mike for a great time, and thanks to both your very cool parents for the most excellent hosting. Tents were up (even though it turned out that they weren't actually needed) plenty of parking space, everybody was enormously friendly and helpful. I hope SOMEBODY got some pics of the two gorgeous mud covered blonde Jeep ladies in the daisy dukes! I found my A/C works better after fixing my twin electric fan issues, thanks again Mike. I REALLY enjoyed meeting all the members as well as Mike's cool friends that showed up. Burgers were big and tasty, I loved all of your fathers cool projects too, so all in all, well worth the long trip! Speaking of which, it's after 4:00am, and I just got back, now! I don't think I've ever driven so many miles in my life where I literally could not even see the road due to torrential rains, flooding and darkness! 3:00am Sunday to 4:00am Mon on the road! [25 hours, 575+ miles round trip] It IS good to finally be home, though! The rain was continuous (ridiculous, actually) from L.I.NY to Providence, and from Providence to L.I.NY, but beautiful for the S.E Mass portion of this adventure! I was a bit embarrassed that my car was the ugly duckling of the event, but at least it got me there and back without any problems. *!*
