OK, so I have the baby moons on it. Not sure I like it yet. Will definately look a million times better with the front dropped about 3 inches.

I really want to like 'em. I really do. But... something's not right. I think it's the ride height. I NEED to drop it. Gonna cut the fronts at least one coil and throw the eibachs in the rear.

I think if you widened the white wall it would look a little better, I mean everyone does that but I think it looks good still. But I think the front about 2-3 inches would deffinitly set it off wide whites or not

Yeah, a nice set of wide whites, raise the ass a bit and get the front down, maybe 1/2 a coil and it'll look even better.

I agree on the wide whites. But if not, at least paint the wheel weights.

The moons look good on there! I like it without the trim ring.

Yeah, I'm gonna paint the weights. Haven't had time yet. And it's been raining anyways. Wink

Not sure I want the wide whites yet...

And the trunk is loaded with the old rims and tools and shit now, so it's sitting low back there. But I like it! I may throw a couple cinderblocks in the back to keep it low! lol

I have them. Might try them. Don't think they'll help. But they were the original plan. Wink Once I painted the wheels though, I thought it may look better without them...

I would loose everything in the rear, and cut that coil out of the front, or just get a set of stock SS springs all around. I am not sure if the babys and painted rims go with the car. Once dropped, you will know. Wink

I have Eibachs for the rear and will cut my stockers up front. I can get it low enough for damn near free. Wink

And the ss springs won't be low enough for what I want. Very Happy

After looking at the car, I think some hubcaps like the ones on the original cadirat. Full old school cadillac caps with wide whites.

Yeah, you're not the first person to suggest that. But then I think it'll look too "old traditional Cadillac" for me. I'm looking for for "cool, ratty, Caddy." And yes, I now realize that I may have started with the wrong car for that... Wink

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. I'm gonna try trim rings today. Will probably help...

On a brighter note, me and Al worked on the suspension last night...

We swapped out the stock rears for the Eibach's I got from Mikey. They went in pretty easy. One of the shock bolts fought us, but it didn't break. And the springs were rusted to the lower perches! LOL! I had to hang my full weight on each tire to get the old long springs out, too! LOL! Anyways, here's a comparo of the Eibach's and stock FW springs...
Update on the new Cadirat v.2 - Page 2 EibachVsStockFW

Those springs "dropped it on its nuts" as Al said. Smile And it looked awesome! But since we ran into trouble with the fronts, I had to pull a Timmy and max out the rear air shocks to bring it back up to where it was sitting before. Let's just say a whole lot of those moons disappeared when it was on the ground! Wink

The front fought us. Couldn't even get the cotter pins out of the balljoints. And the LCA bolts looked too rusty to attempt. So we gave up with just replacing the sway bar endlinks that broke when we tried to take them off. I went out today and bought lower ball joints, shocks, and an idler arm. Hopefully we can try it again soon. But at least we know what we're in for now. Wink

Not yet. The shocks are full right now anyways. Gonna have to wait til it's lowered. Wink

So now... I think this looks MUCH better! Still needs lowering though! Soon!

I apologize for the crappy cell phone pics and the idiot's shadow, but you can only do so much without a camera with ya! They give you an idea though. So what do we think? Better?

I even got 2 compliments on the rims today while out and about. One punk looking kid in a hoodie and a flat bill cap told me the rims looked "tight." So I think that's cool, right? Wink I told him to straighten his hat and pull up his pants. Am I getting old? Wink And another old white dude told me "those baby moons and trim rims look good. Look good!" And I know that's approval! Smile cheers

Thanks, Timmy. Smile Not sure if I want the wide whites on this one... Still thinking about it. And good call on the inner fenders. Maybe tonight.

That's cuz I washed it again today. I can't believe that friggin car is getting washed way more than the Marshmallow and the Slut! Wink Not sure when we can finish it up. I need to paint the bumper filler and maybe the leading edge of the hood...

PostSubject: Re: Update on the new Cadirat v.2   Update on the new Cadirat v.2 - Page 2 EmptyFri Nov 12, 2010 8:09 pm

Another quick update... I tried to take advantage of the warmer weather today and get some paint work done. I decided to try the front bumper filler that had the major clearcoat issues. I was pressed for time, so it was a super rush job...

I started by taping off as little as I thought I could get away with and sanded it down with 320.
Update on the new Cadirat v.2 - Page 2 Bumperfix1

Then I wiped it down with a rag soaked with brake clean (It was all I had here!) and sprayed the Plasticoat Medium Garnet Red Metallic from a rattlecan. It seems to be a shade lighter and redder than the original. And I seemed to have a little "metalflake pooling" issue in a couple spots. Oh well. The Duplicolor appeared to be a better match. Live and learn. Took 3 color coats to cover it "enough for me" (because I had sanded through the paint in some spots to make it sooth and had dark areas show through) and then I laid down three coats of 10 year old rattlecan clear, too. Hey, at least it was Dupicolor too!!!! Wink
Update on the new Cadirat v.2 - Page 2 Bumperfix2

I took a few minutes to take off the grill and try to JB weld it to make it look decent til I get a good one. It looks better, but you can see the repair if you look for it. Took a couple screws and a piece of plastic to make it strong enough. Then I threw it back on the hood and slammed it down (gently) and took a look at my work...
Update on the new Cadirat v.2 - Page 2 Bumperfix3

Not bad for an hour's work for a hack! Very Happy Like I said before, the color isn't a perfect match, but it looks better than it did. I was also looking at it under fluorescent lights, so maybe it'll look better in daylight. But for a beater, it'll look fine either way. Wink

And yes, I will be getting rid of the bumperettes ASAP! Razz
