Thanks! I know, right? I can't believe it either. He got an email address? I should send him a couple pics and let him know I only had to put a couple hundred bucks into it... _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... | OK, So I finally got the bumperettes off. Happy now? The rears came off nice and easy cuz all 4 bolts broke off. Woot! And the fronts were a bitch. The driver's side came off easy, but the carraige bolt on the passenger size was spun, so I ended up having to take the cutting wheel to it. But it's off! Headers/exhaust or lowering next. _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... Yes. And they all went in the trash. The rears got broken during removal. And the front passenger one got whizzered to death. The only one that survived was the driver's front, and I think that one was missing the chrome cap anyways. _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... | Finally lowered!!!!! One coil cut out of the stock fronts and rear Impala Eibachs with just a little air in the shocks... Also did new lower balljoints, front Gabriel Ultra HD shocks, and sway bar endlinks. Holy crap! Car actually handles way better and the ride firmed up quite a bit. I really wasn't expecting that while keeping the stock mushy springs! I figured it'd get a "little less mushy" but it went way closer to the "firm" side of the meter. I like it. _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... | Got a couple dirty side shots this afternoon... I think I need to let some more air out of the back shocks... Can't WAIT to do the headers and exhaust! I smoked two of my friends today leaving work. One was a 5.3 01 Silverado 4x4 and the other was an 05 Sportrac Exploder. Hee hee. And I need to fix the damn traction control switch so I can shut it off! _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... I like the seat side, but some place on the dash would work. The glove box sux. I kinda wish it could be programed to default off, and turn it on when you want it, not the other way around. Looks badass btw. |

SO?........How'd you make out? Which headers did you put in? Headers are on. Gave up about 1230am last night. Went went the Afterburners cuz I swear they are made for these cars. Exhaust is "close" for being a 73-77 Chevelle kit. Driver's side is perfect. Passenger side screwed me because of our stupid assymetrical crossmember! Hope to finish it up tonight. Will try to get pics and vid up if I get done at a reasonable time. Workin on about 3 and a half hours sleep. | Sorry for the late update. I've been a bit under the weather the past week or so... First off, I gotta say, a HA-YUGE thanks to Al for the help and the use of his shop. He is a very patient man and I really need to stop dead-ending my shit on his lift for a couple days!!!!!!! But... I do have the exhaust done. Actually for about a week now. I will try to get a clip today. Here's the pics though... Here's what we started with. A set of uncoated AB's and a Summit mid-70's GM F/S car header-back exhaust, a set of Percy's multi-layered header aluminum gaskets, and a set of ARP 5/16" 12-point head stainless header bolts, and some other miscellany... "before" Here's manny's removed: And the headers installed. They clear everything great. Like they were designed for the car, I swear. The passenger side took a lot of extra time to clearance for them. The AC lines are REALLY in the way, but with some carefully aggressive persuading, you can move them to where they need to be without breaking them. And the starter wires and knock sensor wires need to be moved and covered with some heat shielding. You gotta bend the dipstick this way and that way and back this way, but you can get it right without removing it. But anyways, here's the installed pics. The Thunder Racing Over-The-Cover kit may be in my future, as the wires are pretty close to the headers. Here's a couple shots of the frame clearance from underneath: I did have to extend the driver's side o2 wires, but that mostly because whoever installed the replacement oil cooler lines trapped the wiring. We tried for 3 nights to cut and patch and make that "awesome deal" of an exhaust fit. We couldn't. It didn't. It sucked. Our crossmember phucked us because it's so asymmetrical. We ended up giving up and just drove it to the exhaust shop (open headers, through the middle of downtown Nashua, at like 11pm - AWESOME!) and had him make intermediate pipes and turndowns. We did, however, poke holes in the pipes for the o2's and welded in bungs, so we did have that going for us... Here's a couple shots of the pipes and turndowns: It sounds ok-ish. Little lame because of the stock cam. There's a little drone, but not too much. I think I'm going to put tailpipes on it soon as I can afford to... I'll try to get the clip later today. Dass it fur now... _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams... | Nice! That 1st shot of the header sitting on the wheelwell makes it look massive. So...is that the best buy header as far as your concerned? Car sounds good, reved right up on your 0-60 too. Nice work BTW "and a set of ARP 5/16" 12-point head stainless header bolts" ? I get the ARP & the 12 point, whats the 5/16? _________________ Steve 96BBB 28K 3.42 Bolt-ons 95BBB 100K 3.73 383 New DD...already broke fixt the 4L60E twice 95 Black WB4 Hole...ee...grail 96 Black WB4 No holes in this 95BBB 189K 3.08 Old DD Stolen...by Matt. | Having installed just about every header they make for this car, and these... These fit better than ANY of the others. No shit. And the 5/16" part is the 5/16" 12-point head, for a 5/16" wrench. It just gives you SO much more bolt access. The bolts really make it a tit install. It's still a 3/8-16 thread. If you go with these headers, the 3/4" long ones are fine. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ARP-400-1208/ And for your car, get the coated headers. _________________ Bill "The Verb" Crovo - Resident Car Slut & Unicorn Hunter A Toasted Marshmallow, A Long German, A Lame Suburban and expensive dreams...
