been working on this for a liitle while and am almost done.
started out as an after market impala grille.
not sure if the emblem will stay chrome or if will be darker.

or, should i refinish it in a darker color(gun metal gray or gloss black)?

only reason i ask that will be the only bling affraid

I think where it is is good, but you might wait til the grill is on the car to see where it looks best. Wink

That looks great man I always love older emblems on newer cars

That's exactly what i'm lookin to do to my grille. I bought the grille mesh off ebay for like $20 .It's still sitting in storage.One day i was in home depot getting gutters and ran across the exact thing i had. It's mesh to keep leaves out $4.Have to give the ebay seller props. Pretty good scam . new look for my grille...installed pics added. PICT2036

PS Anthony. I think you should do the gunmetal gray emblem.It will set it off from the black and still fit the theme of your car.

I have found that the mesh for cars are either chrome or polished stainless, and some what durable. While the gutter mesh is unprotected aluminum, that is quite flimsy.
I have only seen the stuff pep boys sells. Not sure what is sold on ebay.

i think this stuff i got is stainless.
its not flimsy but still easy to work with.
i may be able to get a few more pieces(another kid took like 20 pcs) if someone needs some.

that grille looks tough. but use the weathered chrome. thats sharp .

grille's been done for a couple weeks now.
overall i am happy with the way it turned out.
there is a section at the top where it doesnt match up
to the hood right, not sure what i'm gonna do about it yet.

That looks killer man, it fits the theme of the car perfectly. I'm sure building it up a little to fit flush with the hood shouldn't be that bad, there are a couple of body men on this forum and I am sure they can help you out with some suggestions on the best way to do that.
