Any one got a good lower mile 92-95 LT1 crank shaft laying around? I have a 87k engine, but it needs a crank shaft.
And how much?

I've got a complete short block from a 94 Camaro that I was trying to get $250 for. I could let it go for $150... I was told it was a good running motor when it was pulled by the previous owner, an acquaintance of mine. If you bought it and pulled it apart and found it to be shot I would refund your money on it since I trust you would not try to screw me...

They are not the same, Yes it will go in there and run but it is not properly balanced. The Pistons in a LT1 are a light weight piston. I read some where that a 305 crank is the closest in balance to a LT1 crank shaft. Even if you replace your crank with one from another LT1 engine, it still needs to be balanced with your pistons, rods and, flywheel. I'm currently rebuilding my original engine with 56k, I'm into it for $1,000 in machine work alone.

I do still have an engine under my bench that I'n not really doing anything with, your welcomed to stop by and take a look at that crank and see if it's useable.

Put an LT1 crank in the L99 and make yourself a gen2 305. That's what I was going to do Wink

I didn't balance my caddy's rotating assembly and had a couple "borrowed" pistons and it ran fine.

I thought the LT1 & L99 crankshafts were identical?

Nope. L99 got a 3" stroke while the LT1 got a 3.48"

The LT1 crank with LT1 rods and (from what I've been told) old 305 pistons would make an L99 into a 305 (an LT9 I guess scratch )
