Official BADASS/ECIRS drag day, May 23rd <----LOOK!!!! Date Change!!!!

Mark your calender.
It is official, we are on the ECIRS schedule for May 23rd 2009 at New England Dragway in Epping New Hampshire.

We will be meeting at Burger king in Epping between 7:00 and 7:30 am. Just take 125 south off 101, and go about a 1/4 mile on the right.

Gates open at 8:00 am.

A thank you goes out to Bill Crovo, and the ECIRS for adding this date to the schedule.

I hope to see everyone there.

I might be able to make this one. My 9C1's posi is busted. If I dont have any hookup problems I'll be there.

Is this a regular test and tune day? Maybe my son will show up with his LT1 third gen. Last time he busted his engine and tranny. He now has the engine from my 14.75 green 9C1.

NED hasn't updated their schedule yet. They show us being removed from the original date but not the new date. Hopefully it's not on the same night as the Toyo import wars. I can't stand being around a bunch of import kids.

On a positive note though the 23rd would be perfect for me since I'll be done with finals at that point

Some added coolness for the event... Nab has suggested that we invite some other makes to play too. So I'll do a "Heavy 8" also so we can run with some Blue Ovals and some Nopowers... It'll be fun! There's already interest @ the ISSF!

I'll deffinetly be up there but won't be racing. It is my slowly dying daily driver after all. I just hope some of you guys are still there when I get there. I sure as heck aint going to be there at 8 am since it's a 3 hour drive for us southern folks.

Bammax, mapquest says its's only a a two hour drive from Taunton.

It's an hour and a half or so for me. Just leave your house at 6am, meet me at my house in Newton by 6:30, and we'll be there by 8. Simple as that.

Rich, and Timmy and other guys south of Boston are welcome to meet at my house and caravan up also.

Are you leading the caravan or asking for someone to give you a ride up there?

It is just 1 hour 50 minutes from emerald square mall to Dover, NH. Should be about two hours or so from the center of Taunton to the track.

It deffinetly feels longer. Probably because I don't take 93, and both 95 and 495 involve a bit longer distance to cover. Maybe this time I'll bite the bullet and take the tunnel of death just to shave some time off the drive.

It will be saturday morning. Take 24 to 128 north or 128 south to 93 north. No need to even see 495 other than to pass over it

Why are you afraid to drive in tunnels?

There is nothing wrong with that tunnel I used to sit in traffic in it every day.

Yea I live there, I know all about the lady who got killed.


So one tile out of tens of thousands fell because of a flaw in the design. The same design used in bridges all around the country that has never failed anywhere else.

Nevertheless, the entire bridge was repaired and re-assembled using an improved and almost fool proof design.

So now, years later, your willing to drive an hour out of the way because your worried that even though the chances of another tile falling off are 1 in ten million, you might possibly be driving under an exact spot in the tunnel at the exact split second that a tile would not land in front of you, or behind you, but right on top of you.

Sounds a little paranoid to me.

Not a design flaw or a chance accident. The tunnel was built incorrectly which can not be repaired without rebuilding the entire tunnel. It's currently just patched which is why there is a 10 year window of potential "catastrophic failure".

Which is 10 years longer than my transmission if I get antsy and try to race with you guys in May

It's correct. They are squeezing us in there, too. Just haven't put us on the schedule yet.

The 5 ton pc's of concrete only fall in the slow lane...so you should be all set....just hang left... right ?

Do Like I do. Just drive very fast in the tunnels. Always feels like you are going faster than you are. If you have a problem with the tunnels, just take 128. Besides, that is not the tunnel that had the failure.

I can't wait for this, i am very excited on what my SS will pull off for time.

Trying to get enough miles on the new trans to make it to this. How many guys are meeting at BK? How many cars are showing?
