So my 96 K1500 with a 5.0 has been throwing a P0308 on cold mornings since last winter. Granted all spring, summer and until about 3 weeks ago, it was fine. Only on mornings below freezing would it throw a cylinder 8 misfire. Anyway, I'm an idiot and thought it was the EGR valve (which was sticking). I replaced that a week ago and still misfiring. I then checked the oil and it looks a little milky so I am now thinking its an intake gasket.
The issue is I have had the truck over a year and the problem is getting worse. My fear is that the coolant has damaged the engine because I ran it for so long. I know I need to pull the oil pan and look at the bearings for scoring, but I am not confident on what to look for. I will Google it for help, but would it be best to have a mechanic check it out? I only drive it about 5-10 miles a day and occasional weekends. I'd love to just throw some Felpro gaskets on it and call it a day.
I feel like an idiot for not checking the oil earlier, especially when I changed it back in September (though it seemed fine).
