The fuel pump is very loud outside and inside the car.. always has been. I'm sick of hearing it. Any tricks?

I read somewhere about someone putting something in the tank to quiet it down? I also have to hear it every time Kayla pulls in the driveway...

Umm.....they usually get loud just before they die. Shocked

GM tried shutting a lot of them up by putting a foam sleeve around the pump, but later on they realized it was making them overheat! Doh Mad

It's been like this for 2 years.... I guess I will just deal with it until it dies.

I add that TCW-3 marine oil to a tank of fuel every once in a while, people have said it helps lube the pump mechanically and quiet it down a little, but I haven't noticed anything really aside from it being slightly quieter on my blazer (thought I heard a slight ringing noise from it in the past...)
