That's seriously what the guy in the cubicle next to me said today.

Apparently I've been burping a lot, really loudly, ever since I started. Apparently he's not the only one who feels that way. Apparently it's "disgusting".

I didn't really know what to say to him.... F'n va-jay-jay.

It depends on the setting. Casual office dress. Evil or Very Mad Out back in the werehouse. Twisted Evil

And I know you did not go to collage for four years to stack boxes. So yes, probably inappropriate in your Job setting.

wikipedia

Belching (also known as burping, ructus, or eructation) involves the release of gas from the digestive tract (mainly esophagus and stomach) through the mouth. It is usually accompanied with a typical sound and, at times, an odor. In most parts of the world, especially in formal situations, audible burping is considered impolite. Public belching tends to be received in a manner similar to flatulence, although not as severe. In the United States, "burping" is significantly quieter and subtler than "belching."

Not sure, were you looking for an answer to his question?

stiĀ·fle [stahy-fuhl]
verb, -fled, -fling.
–verb (used with object)
1. to quell, crush, or end by force: to stifle a revolt; to stifle free expression.
2. to suppress, curb, or withhold: to stifle a BURP. Not accepted in Newton or Chicago
3. to kill by impeding respiration; smother.
You could use definition #1 & "crush" or "end by force" Smile
