| Anybody know a place or a guy that can do some basic body work cheap? I'm talking popping out dents, smoothing some surface rust, spraying some spray paint over bare metal. That kind of stuff. I'm looking for as cheap as possible but work that still has enough quality to last a while. My next car is going to need a bit of clean up work and I can't do body work myself unless it's just bolting on parts. I know most body shops charge hundreds just to pop out a couple dents and throw on some primer and that's way out of my budget. | |

| I know a guy. So long as you don't mind a peculiar plasticky-melty smell when he's done... He also runs a surf shop. | |

| If you have the time to do a lot of wet sanding I'd consider a $50 Rustoleum roller paint job. I have a Camaro hood that I started to do and it might look good if I ever finish it. Then again I know a guy that can paint but I think he might color blind. | |

| If things go according to plan I'll need to have a dent pulled out of a fender, some grinding and painting on a couple doors as well as a quarter panel, and then some major surgery on the bumpers which I doubt any local guy could help with considering the amount of work needed. Then beyond that it'll just need a fresh coat of paint. It's currently a very worn white color. Also at some point I'll need to have a passenger side mirror installed | |

Bah. It's been done. I actually was checking one out though, but the guy was too far away. I had 3 different 2-doors lined up but they all had major issues, so I ended up going after a 4-door since it was closest to being a daily driver, and it is more practical for day to day use. And it's not an Imp because that would be too easy If I end up buying it I'll make sure to show it off once it gets reliable enough to make the drive all the way up to you guys. Unless someone wants to come down and help me clean it up before then

| I already said it was a 4-door b-body without overdrive. That eliminates any b-body with a 2004r or 700r4 which is every one after a certain year. By being a 4-door it also eliminates the 77-78 Riviera since that was only available as a 2-door. My parts will swap over which makes it at least a '77. And it's not an Impala. No more hints until I go pick it up and get it home | |

| You can quit guessing. It appears as though between Friday and this morning someone else showed up with cash and the car is gone I'm looking into a 2-door that I originally passed on just to see if it's a good candidate for me to mess with. I have my doubts about it though. It's rusty with a 307 and has some electrical issues I'm tempted to say screw it and just wait for the exact car I want to come along, but it's rare and I already missed out on one so it might be years before I find another in my price range | |

| My dream find right now is a 2-door b-body Lesabre for a grand or less. There was one in Maine last month but I think I missed that one. I'm going to look into a 4-door one later this week. I want to try and make a fullsize Grand National The one I missed out on wasn't a Lesabre. Last hint is that it had mini fins | |

I'm thinking more like this
The kid that lived across the street from me in high school had a black/black/maroon interior one of those. Tinted windows, solid Centerlines, and loud exhaust. After high school I watched it rot in his backyard at the woods. I STILL have daydreams about that car....

The one I missed out on wasn't a Lesabre. Last hint is that it had mini fins 77-79 Electra? I think I saw a couple of those on CL. There is a MINT 83 LeSabre Limited coupe on craigslist, and it's been there for a while because they want 3500 for it. http://hartford.en.craigslist.org/cto/1563393047.html I'd offer then 2500 for that car if it had absolutely no problems, and I'm cheap. Personally, I think these older "mundane" offerings are way cooler than any Corvette or F-body when you see them at cruise nights, they are the true time machines that real people have memories of! I'm biased though, I can't see spending 30K for a 70 Chevelle when I can spend 1500 bucks on a 73 Chrysler or something and have the same amount of onlookers come up and ask about it...

| Bought my replacement today. Need to figure out how/when to pick it up since it's over an hour away from here. Don't worry Billy, this one needs body work too On the plus side it already has the 2004r in it so that's a plus. | |
