alternator bracket/braces

hi guys,

i was wondering where the bracket/braces for the alternator on a 96 impala go. i've heard that i can ditch the braces altogether, but i also figure GM made them for a reason.

how many brackets are there total, and what do they bolt into on the block? i think i have 3 pieces that look very similar to what pictures show.

there's also the off chance that the braces that came with my engine were the wrong ones. hehe you might see me lurking on the for sale pages...
