Midnight tour of the Allagash Ice Caves on July 3rd!

Carry in/carry out, absolutely no local services available. We will be a two hour drive away from everything, even cell phone service.
Please no alcohol consumption 'til after the tour is over.
Canoe rentals are available from nearby outfitters.

I was wondering if I was going to see a bunch of lowered impalas on the golden road.

What is the other forum?

You should be able make it to Chablerlain lake (our takeout point) with a lowered Implala, maybe even to Round pond (Loon lodge). The last few miles to the  Allagash lake carry trail ain't gonna happen in an Impala,  Allagash stream (our primary goal) may be a remote possibility.

If you can make it to Round pond we'll find a way to get you, your gear and boat the rest of the way.

I'm familiar with loon lodge, and often camp in one of the two campsites at the north side of round pond.

I don't go in the caprice though. I have a S10 ZR2 that is my camping and exploration vehicle.

Due to some paddlers having little or no experience we are staying on Allagash Lake. Maybe 17 miles total paddling.

Leaving early July 2 and returning late on July 7. It's not an easy task getting to the lake, 1.3 miles by foot carrying everything. Chain smoking old guys will probably want to stay home. No running water, electricity, or motors (ranger boats are exempt). It's in the middle of nowhere and extremely quiet.

The roads from Chamberlain to Round Pond were in worse condition thus year than last year.

I have heard that the storms in early July  (the storms that produced tornados in western maine) damaged a lot of roads in the NMW and surrounding areas.

My. Son and I love the train hike. Watch for bear poop (and bears).
