Maybe it's worth fixing, but I'm THINKING of parting ways with the Rustmaster. 1994 limited sedan with 195,xxx miles. It's either a driver/builder or a parts car. Engine and trans run STRONG (only real reason I've kept it up this long). Interior is 4/10. Exterior is 5/10 (20 foot'r). I put a lot of work into it since I bought it just to keep it roadworthy. Check the thread for details if you want.
My worst fear is that one might say I let the car get this bad. Perhaps, but things happen, stuff breaks, cars rot, etc. Since the recent incident with the C clip falling out, I've been looking long and hard at parting with it. My dilemma? Is it actually worth getting rid of? Maybe I'm insane for wanting to keep putting effort into this particular car but I hate giving up.
The floors are rusty, quarters are gone, wheel houses and backseat have holes in them, AC doesn't work, interior lights/power locks/mirrors/trunk pop doesn't work. Passenger rear door is dented, left driver corner next to trunk is dented. The alignment was done haphazardly and one of the snow tires is bald on the inside. Looks like the drivers side backing plate needs to be replaced while I have the axle out since the anchor pins were almost ripped through the holes thinned from rust.
I've done front brakes, wheel cylinders, brake lines, headlight switch, tensioner, bleeder mod, AIR delete, replaced drivers seat (wrecked again) WP, radiator, H core, TB bypass, lowes intake, Swiss cheese box, fluids, coil, plugs, wires, replaced rotted real lower control arms, intermediate pipes and mufflers, front end (steering) and a bunch of other stuff like replacing the grill, corner lights, and what have you.
I figure if I let it go, I'll get the 9C1 back together and drive that until I find something worth buying.
I can scrap it along with the Taurus. I could try to sell it out right. I can't really compete with another '94 part out on here. Anybody have suggestions? What would you do?
My feelings are this: I'm loading precious cargo onto a sinking ship.
