Looking for a wagon.... Empty
PostSubject: Looking for a wagon....   Looking for a wagon.... EmptyTue Nov 19, 2013 1:56 am

Decided I NEED another 91-96 b body wagon MORE than a 64 nova wagon. Planning to sell the nova wagon for cheap and find me a big ol V8 powered wagon.

Prefer a caprice but can't complain about a Buick
Must be running. No rolling shells or the like,
Not concerned about mileage or color
Looking for $1500 and under because that's what I'm selling the nova for.

Hopefully I can sell the nova quickly and get back into a beater for myself before the snow.
We have the low mile 93 sedan. But sedans dont haul SHYTE!! need a daily for myself that can carry stuff,
Keep an eye out and thanks!

Yes seriously.

The nova is cool and all, and it's running now but I can't fit as much in it. And the kids can't go in the car due to no seat belts and other issues.
Just replaced the tail gate and rebuilt the entire steering column and dash.

I'd take a 60's impala wagon as well. Just don't think I'd find one in running condition for what I can afford to spend.
I just need more room/safety. It's not one of those I need this ASAP. just throwing it out there that I AM looking.
I'm also having issues with getting paperwork on it here in MA, But I'm still continuing to chip away at it when I have time.

I didn't even have to click that link. That car was already in my head since I decided to start looking for one.
3 hrs one way for me. But probably worth it.
I'd still like Steve's car since Id have a good honest history on it,

he's like oh KBB says in "fair" condition it's worth $2080 or something. It's says in ad rust and rot, I have numerous email addresses so I'm gonna email a bunch of stupid offers in the attempt too make my real offer look "great", no way it's worth $2000 to me.

Dude I wouldn't even bother. He's probably smoking crack with that logic changing shit around right in correspondence with you...if he thinks he didn't ask enough I mean at least delete the ad and wait a while then relist it for more with pics or something...lol

It's his "dad's car" he says he made a mistake when listing.
It's also a black Wb4 with grey interior with "around 90,000 miles"
Gauge cluster is out so no way to tell for real.

Because it's a black caprice with no wood in my back yard I'm gonna be persistent until it comes to a "can't come to terms"
It's also a best offer ad. I could get there and the frame could be rotted out. I've talked ppl down from $5000 to $2400 before. Anything is possible!

93 is the Wife's car, Probably not lol.

Will post a few Pics of wagon now that I've fixed stuff.
Here's the story so far:

When I pulled it out of the woods it had the back half smashed into a V (rolled downhill and into a tree), the engine didnt run, and the interior smelled like the rodent section of petco.
I got a tailgate for $400 from a guy in Ohio MINT!
replaced fuel pump and coil and the engine fired right up.
Also replaced valve cover gasket and while I was at it sandblasted the valve cover and painted it,
Brakes were non-op.... Replaced the master cylinder with a brand new one and did the brake lines that were bad.
They still need bleeding.
Interior was completely gutted. All the way to the metal. Sprayed the interior with water and bleach
Seats were stripped to springs and "cleaned" with a blow torch to get rid of the smell. I recovered the rear seat with black vinyl, the front seat has a seat cover on it cuz I ran out of material and it wasn't going well with sewing anyway.
Installed a period correct 80/20 loop pile carpet (black)
The dash was stripped down and emptied out, took gauge cluster apart sandblasted and painted, gauges and electrical contacts cleaned.
Steering column was all f'd up and had a stupid grant steering wheel. Tore the column down to bare shaft and rebuilt the whole thing: new wiring harness, new turn signal switch, and cancel cam. Junked the grant wheel and got an original 64 wheel with chome horn button and dyed it black.
Heater box was removed and disassembled. Sandblasted the whole thing and reassembled after painting black, new heater core. New heater hoses, new blower motor and new blower motor resistor. Reassembled dash and heater and defrost now work.

Replaced the tail gate and pulled all the metal back straight, needs some minor welding across the back where relief cuts were made.
Replaced both rotted out front fenders with mint ones.
Replaced the original tires with a $100 set of junkyard find 155/80r13's.
All doors open and close like new. Windows are all mint and roll up and down no problems,
Definitely needs more work. But it's a CLASSIC and a numbers matching car.

Generous would be me getting the car I want & having no need for this wagon
Of course...this wagon is no bargain... has lots of rust & rot...but hauls shyt & starts every time.
Not sure I could get involved with a guy like that....unless the car looks special...

Went and saw that black wb4 a few hours ago.....
steve it is DEFINITELY not for you. I might be able to work with it. But it's gonna need a complete doosh!
I made s very reasonable offer. We'll see what happens. The guy's father is definitely out of touch with reality. NO WAY that car is worth $2k.
The whole roof looks like a little "rust mole" made small mounds of rusty metal. D pillars rotten, lower spare tire rotten through, interior missing stuff loose door panels. And everyting had like a mildew mold look to it, like when a car sits for a while with a window cracked open.
Trans lines held together with rubber hose, hatch glass pistons in-op, no AC, rear defrost busted, dash pad all cracked and broken. It had FORD hub caps Shocked and the passenger mirror was held on by duct tape.

It could be saved, a new hood and some small patch work and it would be nice.
The interior needs a clean but I would be opposed to swapping interiors to a non-grey one so I can SEM the damn thing black. Wishing I still had that black fleetwood interior now.
