| A family friend is coming by the house Wednesday to talk about what I want him to do body wise and paint on the car...
I have been toying with the idea of pulling all the stainless rocker trim off the car and installing a set of fiberglass bumpers and have the entire car done in a cadillac pearl white.
How do you guys think it would look with all the moldings shaved?
I found a picture of the street trendz car....
https://2img.net/h/i1024.photobucket.com/albums/y307/StreetTrends2010/89%20Box%20Caprice%20by%20Street%20Trends/89Caprice02.jpg
So maybey something to that effect without the goofy front/ rear bumpers?
I really don't know what to do I am undecided. Any suggestions to have it stand out but not look tacky or incomplete would be appreciated.

| I think that car would look awesome done up in a pearlescent/metallic off-white color, with the stock bumpers painted like you mentioned. Maybe stock bumpers tucked? I don't think it would look bad with the stainless trim missing, that stuff has it's place but the 9c1s of that era along with all the other cars that came without it still look great too... | |

I tucked the rear bumper this year and it came out pretty nice, but glasstek makes stock replacement fiberglass bumpers (a build your own mounting bracket type of ordeal), and I was thinking of possibly frenching them in... before I welded the brackets in.... P.S. I never noticed that the 9c1 models came from the factory without the moldings. Thanks for pointing that out....gives me many more examples to look at.

| Dang! Now when I paint mine caddy pearl I'll be a copy cat! Maybe everyone will forget in like ten years when that happens I like chrome, I'd keep the tucked bumpers and ditch the trim if that's what you want. But don't forget it's YOUR car. | |

| Ha, I totally forgot you did that to the bumpers...
Yea, I've seen a lot of Caprices that weren't totally low end models (some power options, etc.) that didn't come with the lower stainless pieces, but did come with the vinyl strips on the doors, wheel well trim, etc. I think if you did a monochromatic paint scheme, it would look real clean like that. Would you be changing the header panel to the euro lights?

| In my opinion the box cars looks best with tucked bumpers and no chrome. But that's just me. | |

No, for some reason I am partial to the quad light setup and egg crate grill. - Pooge wrote:

Yea, I am leaning towards doing something similar to this Malibu (but in white) http://jakesperformancefabrication.com/Images/dragweek/malibu_DSC01107.jpg http://weldracing.com/press/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/topeka11.jpg I love how clean it is. I am thinking the following: -Cadillac pearl off-white (have to find the specific color name) -Fiberglass bumpers frenched and tucked painted body-color -Delete all the rocker moldings and stainless trim -Remove all the stainless trim around the windows and door frames and have it powder-coated a matte black to give everything a more modern look The only thing I am unsure of is the bumpers...I don't know how its going to look body colored. Then I have to choose wheels. I am thinking a set of Weld RTS 15x10 rears and 17x4.5 fronts.

| JM2C, But I think the painted bumpers would be too much. I think on big cars like this you need something to break up all the white, I think leaving the bumpers chrome, or maybe even some sort of gunmetal color will help. | |
