| I have had this idea for some time now. And since I had an old set of ss wheels, I figured I'd give it a go. So I started stripping them last night. This is how all four looked when I started. Here is the chemical stripper at work on two of them. Here is the first one after the center cap ridges are ground off. Just under an hour to get this far. Still needs final sand before powdercoat Close up. Kinda looks Corvette-ish |

to bad there isnt some way to fill in the 2 square indents. If I thought J-B weld would hold up to 400 degrees for an hour, I might use that and also fill the ridge. |

| i did a quick search on yahoo using "powder coating jb weld" came up with alot of info. off jb welds website seems to be good up to 500* some of the forum topics it brought up talked about jb weld being a p/c's secret for filling weld imperfections. it seems the common thing brought up in all the threads is to use the original jb and NOT the "quick set".
hope this helps out a little.

| It should be noted that those wheels came off my Impala and where extremely corroded at one point. They look phenomenal now...
JB those babies and show us the finished product!

| How about radiusing them as you come out of the lug area deep enough to make the pocket disappear? | |

That is what the jb weld talk is for. I was going to radius it the way it is, but I think some additional material from the jb weld will make a better looking final product. |

I was thinking the same thing, but somehow knew that Billy would be looking at those and seeing exactly what we saw, so I was going to wait and see if he did it... Man would that make a clean looking exposed lug rim...That would get me thinking about doing it...Hell, I have the rims, and it would really only cost time till powder coating time... I must see the finished product, every time i pull the caps on mine to take a tire off I love the look of the open middle... | |

have you figured out something for the hub hole yet? if not what is the size of the hole? I have grinded the ridge off in the hub as well. I will have to get a measurment and see what center cap will fit. Not sure if I will do a black plastic or chrome cap yet. May just paint the hubs red and call it a day. Maybe this http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=ARE%2D1327000S&N=700+4294923107+4294880564+4294880563+115&autoview=sku I have one done 100% and one 95% done.

| What about the JB Weld? Those look FARKING AWESOME, btw!!!!!! EDIT: Also... You should open up the center bores now to fit a standard aftermarket center cap. Definately before you send them in for powdercoating. Then you won't have to try and fudge a way to cover the hubs. I think the 3.300" will work well. $3.99 @ Summit each with NO LOGO! | |

| How many hours do you have into those? I'm thinking you have yourself a possible part time business venture... I could see those selling like hotcakes... you could pick up corroded rim sets on the cheap and turn some coin on those...If my car was seeing the road this year I would have a set commissioned from you already dude.

Used set of 4 for 11 bucks SHIPPED! Thanks for the center cap heads up Bill. Wheels are now off for powdercoat. I should have them back tomorrow or the next day. They will come back solid gloss black Here are some ideas I have tried over the past couple days. All the caps were donated for trying different ideas by Anthony. But I had to open the holes up to 3.25" to make them fit. |

| If those had a chrome lip on them I'd drive up there tomorrow and try to talk you into selling them. As they stand now I think their only worthy of me driving up and taking them when your busy playing with the dogs I love how you manage to have a neat idea and then follow through on it. It's inspirational for all us slackers who just think up stuff and then go take a nap. I won't mention any names | |
