| All thats left on my exhaust replacement is to buy the muffler. I was looking at a Thrush Turbo since it was cheaper than a stock replacement and provides a nice sound. The "overall" length is 18.5" whereas the stock is 23". Will I run into problems clearing the axle now with this shorter muffler or can I get away with it? If I won't clear, is it a big deal to clamp/weld on extra pipe to the end of the muffler to clear? | |

| I ran into this over the weekend with my 94 RMW. The turbo thrush ones that Advance had were not offset which would cause other issues with fitment besides length. I ended up with some brown box one from autozone that was an inch shorter than stock, but fit just fine. Don't know if the thrush gives you any nicer sound than stock or not, the brown box one didn't. | |

Thanks for the info. Do you have a part number/brand on that brown box one? Autozone lists 17696 for a Caprice Thrush Turbo.

I don't know about your TBI wagon, but for some reason LT1s have a 2.25" inlet and a 2" outlet and this muffler has those openings. Why GM decided to bottle neck the exhaust is beyond me. It does not come up under any of the wagons because its technically too short to fit but fit fine for me. If you have to get a piece of pipe to extend it then either clamp or weld it.

That has crossed my mind as well. But I'm also worried about it being too loud/droning.

| It's only loud when you stomp on it. I had it on my 92. | |

| I don't have personal experience with Thrush but they aren't the ones from 30 years ago, they're made in China now and from what I've heard rot out like Flowmasters do but worse, lol. If I were getting cheap ones I'd get the Summit Turbos or something like that. For me, I think I want Hooker Aerochambers...ever since I rode in a DCM SS back in like 2004 that had them, I've wanted those! | |

| My father and I have always (for the most part) used flowmaster. They hold up pretty damn good and sound terrific. I've got dual 40 on my 87 aerocoupe and dual 50 on the 9c1. Expensive? Very. I shelled out 500+ bones on the cat back setup. But thrush turbos are cheap and are a good medium range muffler. I had one on my 85 caprice with a 262 and one on my 87 caprice with a 305. Quiet until you really lean into it. My dads 87 Monte SS had dual California turbos and they sounded tits. But, search YouTube and get some good headphones to make your decision. That's how I did it.... | |
