| Does anyone know what size the bolts are that hold the N97 caps to the rim? Are they still made? I've lost a few so I need to replace those/ like to have a few extras. | |

http://parts.nalleygmc.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_product=2539743&ukey_assembly=367457 I wish I did. I would take one off, hit an Ace hardware store and buy 12 new stainless bolts, and a small tube of threadlock. |

| I never had luck getting the right thread on those. I got metrics and standards when I had my red winter wheels, and neither were "right" but both would work. Same with the ones on Big Ugly. Weird.
I wanna say m8x1.25 or 5/16-20 work, but don't hold me to it.

| Tried to order 12 (figure that would hold me for a while) of them but there is a min order of $35 http://www.gciron.com/ShoppingCart.asp Who wants to get in on a group purchase? We would have to order 47 of them to break us over $35. I can ship it to one of the Bill's if that is ok? | |

I think this^^^ I remember MDZ nailed the bolts but I cant find the thread I did try 5/16-18 (also tried tapping) that was wrong, close but wrong. For some reason, I think he said it could be either (metric or std)? So that puts Crovo's guess right on the money Except I think its 5/16-24 ( I cant talk metric need to make a chart 4 myself sometime)

Every N97 I've ever seen was 8mm 1.25 mm/thread pitch. The ARP #s are [761-1001 (6 point)] - & - [771-1001 (12 point wrenching head)] 10 mm wrench, & both are 20mm UHL (under head length). For ref: [8mm = 0.3149062992125"] - and - [5/16" = 7.9375mm] - - - pretty close actually. Its the T.P.I. mismatch that will cause the binding and/or seizing for the wrongly sized installed threaded bolt. I got these (NOS) bolts (linked below) from Mike at Hamilton Chevrolet. Excellent GM parts source! http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Caprice-9C1-Center-Cap-Bolts-1994-96-Police-2000-10-/390348621212?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5ae297459c#ht_753wt_1165 Two important things to keep in mind: 1) - Stock (OEM) caps are reasonably sturdy die cast metal and don't crush that easily when the three bolts are tightened. However, the aftermarket plastic "knock-offs" are of a soft plastic and WILL crush when great care is NOT taken when tightening the screws! Use red lock tight when the exact bolt preload is reached, otherwise the low preload will allow the nice ARP bolts to fall out. 2) - You MUST be careful of the under-head bolt length, because the threaded bolt must NOT be too long, and protrude into the flat mounting pad area on your brake disc, drum, hub etc. If you are not careful, the wheel will not seat properly when mounted to the car. Note: I think the original bolts were 3/4" long, but you will have to double check that. 19mm is very close to 3/4" and 0.750" is actually 19.05mm. The above ARP part #s will be nearly 1 mm longer than OEM.

Well, I'd be down for 24. But your link doesnt show a price each. I figure I'll get a nice new set for my 15x8's and my bro's N97's if they're cheap enough. - Machine-De-Zine wrote:

| Very true. If you do its $$$. But Mostly unfounded. So, swap to the LT1 and frame and all for ease of availability lol. J/K | |
