| Bad news first: #2 son's car went for inspection today and it got confiscated! It seems one of the lower ball joints was so bad they thought it might be unsafe to drive. They refused to let the car go except to be towed or trailered. The State police were called and I'm told we should be expecting a visit from them tomorrow. Also has 4 exhaust leaks (at all the muffler clamps) and needs a new wiper blade.
Good news: The Camaro's driver window fell out after it passed inspection so I can still drive it as long it's not raining.

| That is too bad Jim. I do not know all the laws here in Cow Hampshire, but calling the state police for a ball joint seems a bit extreme. Good news on the broken window. |

| Well the stud just spins so I'll have to hack it off. Gonna need new front brakes, rotors, water pump and maybe spindle. I think maybe the wheel took a hit some time in the past.
Well I was doing OK with inspections 'til they got all new guys. First I heard of calling the Sate Police 'cause of a bad BJ.
The Camaro window ain't so bad, 'sides I have a whole spare door.
Mark who.
WTF - Work Time Fun?
Of course I'm going back, I already paid.
It's mod (day) marathon weekend. Yahoo...

| Hey I'm somewhat of a rebel but I bow in reverence to Mark.
The ball joint is really bad. I don't have a problems with that but towing the car is a bit extreme. Something must have happened at the shop. They seem a little paranoid.
The exhaust leak is my fault. I tend not to tighten the clamps enough.
Bill, have you ever welded stainlees to mild steel?
Well the pizza is gone. Time to go back to work.

| Thanks Bill. I couldn't get the AZ ball joint press to work as instructed but in the end I got it to work. The ball joint wasn't too bad. The spindle was the real problem. Somehow the spindle hole was messed up. It had to have been this way for a long, long (± 1 long) time. As if it wasn't torqued correctly. I don't think there was any immediate danger of breaking on the 4 mile ride home. I have to pull a spindle from another car. Got some Spicers to put in. Time for more Pizza. | |

| Ball joints are done. The alignment's off a bit but so is the other side. I did a terrible job welding the pipes but it's done. The water pump ought to be easy. | |

| Truck Y-pipe has been welded (aka hacked up). The ball socket was rusted. I was too tired to see if I left any pin holes. Access was tight but no way I was going to pull that pipe out. The cat is welded on and it's the size of a small gas tank. The cross member would have had to come out to remove the whole assembly. The things I do to save a few bucks...
Should I dig the weld splatter out of my arm or just let 'em rust? It's only 4 or small ones.
