| I got a 15% off code and a $50 gift card to Advanced Auto Parts... which brings the total cost to $167... any benefits or just DIY?
otherwise, what should I spend the $50 gift card on? It's only eligible for online purchases and I have to use it before December 15th...

otherwise, what should I spend the $50 gift card on? It's only eligible for online purchases and I have to use it before December 15th... I have a bunch of coupon codes that I use constantly. Use them online and pick in store pickup. BIG30 gets $30 off $75 or more, VISA gets you a bunch and $50 off $150 or more, RETMENOT123 $10 off $30, $20 off $50, $30 off $100. I'm sure there's more but those are my primary ones If it weren't for the codes I wouldn't bother shopping there.

| oh nice. so I wonder if I can combine that VISA one with the $50 card I have. and then it brings the price down to $156
is the K&N Intake that much better than a DIY one?
The only thing I like about the K&N one is the heat shield.

| oh, nevermind, it's not COMBINABLE
code is OCTBB. that's BS, they said I'd get a $50 GIFT card... not some promo code
so it'd be $205 for the K&N. Guess I'll DIY it then.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I should get for $100? Maybe a regular cone filter... and... I dunno... what else. ugh, what a crock.
Maybe I'll get a louder muffler... what's required for mufflers on these? 2.5" offset mufflers?

| first ask yourself how long you plan on keeping this car , then ask is it worth it. ..... I did my intake for less than $20 ..... and if I didn't show & tell what it really is, you would think it was stock or expensive. ....... Its only worth so much to the person who wants it. ...... also look through past threads in the mod section....... there is a 100 different ideas you could use.

The only reason I got the K&N for the cougar was because it came with really trick brackets for the MAF that I would NEVER have thought of to make. With K&N you pay for a name. I've heard numerous times cheap Autozone sold spectre filters outflow the K&Ns anyway. The LT1 cars have such a simple design a homemade pvc tube and that spectre filert would be sweet. As far as mufflers go there is a thread about mufflers in which Indigo suggests his muffler of choice for all projects for cheap money. I think it was for 2.5" systems.

| Got my K&N CIA free cuz some chump wanted to swap it for my stock setup for his SS. One mans trash is one mans money saved! I'd go DIY honestly. Plus you'd have the self satisfaction when people ask about it. BTW I ditched the K&N filter for a spectre one, with a little modification, ts works great! | |
