| Can anyone give me an idea or ball park figure on what a paint job should cost?
I'm talking about a complete respray (not jamb's) and some minor MINOR body work- scratches and One half dollar size dent. It would be in gloss black, (no rattlecans!!!!!)
I'm gonna shop around for next spring but just need an idea on what costs would be. I don't need a showroom paint job. Just something that looks good from 5-10 feet away.

| For a base/clear complete paint job and wet sanded and buffed ur looking at $3000 as a average. When it comes to bodywork and paint u get what u pay for! U want to spend $1000 u get a $1000 job. | |

| Indigo, I don't think he sprays full cars but the place I'm taking my wagon to is filling the studs and holes, fixing BOTH quarters, and another rusty spot plus paint for $400. The guy does great work too. He's a small, literally two bay shop. But he's always busy. Could always get the body work done and then just find a MAACO that doesn't blow and have them spray it. - 96slowss wrote:

Jesus H Christmas! I should have learned body work. I'll never get the wagon painted at that rate

thats is a decent deal JUstin, but i dont think the quality will last long. few months later you'll start to see the blend spots. and yes $3000 is average for a stock quality paint job even in NH thats the rate.

He already told me he'll be using essentially the Duplicolor GM 40 white since he can't spray the whole car. I wasn't expecting showroom finish. I just want/ need the studs filled/primed/sanded. Which is what he's doing. I planned to have the whole car done after I got the studs filled and the quarters fixed.

Thats cheap, just wait a while & see what surfaces. A complete paint job with tiny fixes (if any arise) on a wagon will hit the $3K mark easy. Back to the standard paint job thread...

Back to the standard paint job thread... So as not to derail anymore. I've PM'd you. Suffice to say i'm not worried about quality. I've seen the guys work on other cars. Nothing short of like new condition. I wish I had saved those pics I had of an '08 S500 he rebuilt that got tboned by an F350.

| Thanks guys for all the info! Was assuming it would be around that. I do have a compressor and I do have the body work supplies. I have never taken on an entire car so I don't wanna mess up an already flawed factory paint job. Im all set with maaco. If I was gonna go that route I'd spray it in the backyard and save my money. It has a different color nose and there is some paint chips and heavy scratches here and there. But like I said I'm not looking for show condition I just want it to look ok and all the same color. The wagon is flat black right now, but with the heavy mods and body resto work it will need paint again, and even though it's kind of a rat rod right now, would eventually love to get it done in high gloss black. Black does show EVERYTHING if you don't prep it right. With snow already here and lack of a garage I think it'll be a while before I'm even gonna attempt any paint. | |
