| WOW!!!!! Matt, even if your heart is broken, atleast your around to talk about it. i know youve prob heard that a million times since the accident. every time i see one of these cars smashed up i pause for a few moments and try to imagine if it was me and my car. i dont know if the sad or mad feeling is stronger, and i hope i never have to actually experience it. lmk if you need help when you start pulling it apart.

| Man, that's a little worse than I am expecting in some ways, and how the hell did that car do that damage? But, at least the body itself is okay, as well as you!
I think there is still a bumper leftover from my brother's car if you need it. Has the ins. co settled everything and all that crap?

I sprained my collar bone according to the doctors. Don't know the condition of the girl that hit me. BTW this happened aug. 18, I've just been waiting for insurance BS to post pics. - Ironfistdog wrote:

Yeah tell me about it! If I had been driving the cougar I wouldn't have been so lucky. I plan on using my 84 caprice's frame and nose. Been gathering as much info on body off restos as I could possibly find. Going to do everything right and only once! sandblasted frame, POR-15'd and painted. New brake/fuel/ any other lines. building a 355 for it (eventually) and putting a shift kit in the re-built 700R4, that is if it is still any good. The only reason I'm fixing it is because I already have the parts car with a bad body and good frame. - mikiehews wrote:

lmk if you need help when you start pulling it apart. Oh trust me I'll be asking for help here and there! I started to loosen all of the nose pieces today and will be moving it into the tent garage in a week or so. Before November so I can really get it out of the elements (kinda) and tear it apart. - Matt Trakker wrote:

IDK how that little mazda did that, but she didnt even touch the brakes and was going pretty fast. Didn't even see her. I might need that bumper, even if it needs chroming I could use it. ins. BS is done but not fair in my eyes, then again they never would have given me a number I thought was "fair"

| So get that front clip off before it gets cold. Sprained collar bone shouldve helped the insurance settle for your #. If its done, move on & lets get that beauty back in shape. Dont forget the wheel well bolts when removing the fender bolts (dont think I pointed those out). Can you even FIND the core support body mounts? Maybe a torch would be better suited to disassembly? _________________ Steve 96BBB 28K 3.42 Bolt-ons 95BBB 100K 3.73 383 New DD...already broke fixt the 4L60E twice 95 Black WB4 Hole...ee...grail 96 Black WB4 No holes in this 95BBB 189K 3.08 Old DD Stolen...by Matt. Well, I have four used ones and whatever is in the J/Y....hope they have enough meat left. I wonder if I could use a beefy shock bushing and the factory metal hardware? I will HAVE to look into that over the winter. | |

| That's another thing Matt, not to sound litigious but if you're injured, don't be a nice guy about it, it could be serious and wind up affecting you long term. My friend has permanent back problems he got screwed on resulting from a bad accident on that big bridge in RI that goes to Newport, dude rear ended his Wrangler going about 100 MPH when he was going around half that. | |

Not a problem for the sawzall I can see em both! Yeah I'm working on it, got a full schedule though with school and work. The collar bone is good, doctor gave me a green light but...I want to wait a few more weeks until I see the specialist and get x rayed again to be sure. - Matt Trakker wrote:

That's true but the fact that it was a sprain that healed to a point where I can't feel it in about a month and I'm already green lighted to go to the gym and lift smaller objects...I think it should be ok. In 20 years if I need surgery I'll just rob a bank. Even if I got money from it now it would have turned into a few cars and a house by that time.

I dont think I would have wanted to drive a stock (non buick turbo) V6 in one of these cars in the 80s. It must have been as bad as driving the 80hp 4 banger 82 camaro! Yeah I dont know why they did that either.... I bet that car has been long crushed. Thats why I want to save this one. Even if it isnt the same it will still be one of 3,110 ever!

| Holy ****. That looks awful. Stupid yuppies crashing into our beloved rides. Do as you said, build it once, build it right. Dont give up, she can live again, and you can make her better than she was. As far as the V6's go, my '85 boxy had a v6 262 I believe it was. TBI. what a piece. slow, burned oil etc. Now its got a 502 or something big in it. I sold it to a friend for $300 back in 2007. I still miss it. I wish you the best of luck with the rebuild and am glad you are in one piece. also, if you need parts, there are a few relatively complete boxies in the yard near me, just give me a shout for parts. Not to make waves, but this was the last time I saw it I believe. I dont think you have this picture anyway... | |

Yeah I didn't give out a lot of details, wanted to let the pics speak for themselves. I might be interested in the parts car, but thats a MIGHT BE. I have the red one but the body isn't rust free and I know I need at least one fender. Might have to source out a few pieces of the front end sheet metal. The biggest thing would be to make sure the 84's frame is good enough to blast and paint and slide under the 87's body, but I have a good feeling it is, was always solid whenever I poked it after seeing a new crusty spot. - toomanytoyz wrote:
- I'm also in for a teardown day.
Probably more likely for my red one, the 87's body and frame might not be separated until next spring/summer. Probably not until the new frame is painted and assembled. - MASShole9C1 wrote:

I may have a few to choose from but I know the red one is junk and the one on the header panel in the shed is in questionable shape. Looking forward to pics. Thanks for the support and offers to help guys, means a lot to have people backing me up on this, helps prove to my mother (whos driveway is taken over by an immobile vehicle) that this is a worth while thing to do and a good "investment". Hell, sure beats the S*&T out of buying stock with the Ins. money right now!
