As you know, my family used to own a hot-rodded 86 Caprice Wagon (had a Pontiac 400 swap with some mods).
This past weekend while waiting in line for photos with the Stanley Cup, my dad and I were talking cars and I told him I was looking at selling my S6 for a Caprice Wagon
He told me that the family battlewagon was both the best and worst car we ever owned.
He loved the power, the durability and the fact that it pretty much never broke. It hauled us all over New England for about 4 years until one day... it just rusted to death.
The rust had started off small and eventually rotted the entire car within a year.
He said my mom and him were terribly upset when that happened and wished there was something they could have done, but it was too late. It was sold for a brand new 1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo (2 door)
He advised me to make sure I don't get one that's rusty... but he seemed intrigued that I would sell my 'mint S6' for an old ass GM Wagon...
On the ride home he mentioned how clean my 'almost 20 year old car' was.
He also mentioned he's thinking of selling his Suburban and his trailer to buy a CTS-V or C6 Corvette. Which would be most awesome.
