| Steam. Plenty of $$$. It's time to call it quits for the year. I'm sick of living in a 3rd floor apartment. Time to start actually putting this shit away for something bigger and better! Imagine, a nice warm, clean man cave shared with the car, my tools all neat and easily accessible. No time limits, plenty of storage... Pull the whole damn thing apart and organize every nut and bolt. Just fine tooth combing after that. Should only take 10 years to finish | |

Welcome back to reality... No matter how early you get it ^^^done, you can never seem to get it where you want. Spend time setting up a plan that works... Back it up with life insurance in case you cant personally oversee the plan... Stick with it...your on the roller coaster of life...see if you can win the game. OK...now I'll come back to reality.. | Thanks for the notes Steve! Ha. I just might be putting the 9C1 off for quite a while. I NEED to stop throwing my money away in rent and car mods. For what we pay in rent for this shit hole, it can be a mortgage, something that WE "own".
Oh, an there's still plenty of money. I've already gone to "school" myself, and started saving already for my son. I've got that on point if nothing else. I want my son to be happy. And a junky 9C1 ain't gonna make anyone happy if we end up living in it in a Walmart parking lot...

LOL, I actually got that one! Badass reference Steve! I remember watching Spenser for Hire religiously when I was like 7 years old, even if I didn't quite get what was going on I was fascinated by seeing places in Boston that I knew on the TV. RIP Robert Urich, heard somewhere once some contractors worked on his house in Andover and he made them lunch and everything, haha. Brian, the car looks great, honestly it doesn't really "need" anything at all for quite a while from what I see. Steve is right, drive that thing and enjoy the hell out of it. I need to stop spending money, it may not look like it but I do and need to start saving more. Just have to do a couple more things to my truck...

It is not a good thing when you get blinded by spending. Defeats "keeping up with the Jones'". I'm at the point where it's not fun anymore because the project, in its "on paper" progress has essentially peaked with a few $$$ exceptions. Exceptions that can be easily put back on paper until the time is right.
The car is great, looks great, runs great, drives, handles great etc. I will sit back and enjoy it for now, and try to deflect the urge to keep going like there's no tomorrow.
It's unsatisfying to think that this car has become such a high priority over many other real life high priority items.
Not to be a drag on people building cars, just make sure your priorities are in order before you start turning wrenches and swiping that debit card. You'll thank me as its taken me a few years to realize I need to slow down, spend more time with the family, and make sure they are taken care of first.

| The car looks balls-out awesome.
Maybe consider relocating west of Worcester. Yeah, we don't have big city "excitement," but this is a good area to raise a family and each of your dollars will go a lot further than out east, if you pick the right town. Might be some friendly people out this way, even.

| Thanks for the tips guys. I don't want to move too far from work. I'm gonna able to purchase this company when the owner retires (full time cop) and it will be nice to run it more in depth and make some changes. It's already a great gig and experience in the position I have now!
If I had it my way, I'd move down south. That's where my 'rents live and they love it. I haven't been since 2009. They absolutely hate New England since they moved in '05 and don't miss a single thing. It's safe to say they will never return to mass lol. I have to do the traveling...

I was thinking about working for the railroad tho. It's funny, I've always been into trains and railroad related things myself. I've often tossed around the idea of trying to get into that field, any facet of it would interest me really. Lately I feel overwhelmed a little, like my life has "stagnated" and I need to change careers or something. You're not alone Brian, lol. When it comes to the cars I've been thinking of selling the Caprice, keeping the Impala as my "fun" car, and the Tahoe for regular/work use. Kind of like how you sold the Monte. I feel like I have too much on my plate, and I don't really have the room for three cars and obviously do not need them. Part of me feels the Caprice is a solid daily driver that allows me to park the truck for when I need it and isn't a lot of money to own, but I dunno. Even thought of selling the 2 cars both and trying to find a really nice SS or something else equally "practical" that is special interest enough, but I can actually drive in the rain if I have to or leave parked outside in it. I should be saving money to try and buy a house someday instead of playing with cars just like how I collected Hot Wheels before that...

| Coolant flush done. LOTS of air in the system from the water pump swap. Water was boiling and shooting out of the overflow tank.
It was even boiling in the machine still when I left.
I lied tho, car is gonna be at the last bass pro shop show tm.
I missed all of the nexus shows this year, but since they will be there tm, so will I.

NM I answered my own question.

| I was thinking about trying to hit that up tomorrow since it's the last one. If I get out of work early, I already have the Impala out and here so I won't have to make a special trip to go get it.
Just never went to it before, is it a pain to get into or anything?

| They were messing with the "rake" of the car. Made it look funky.
But yup. She's re registered and ready to cruise this summer. I need an alignment after the complete rebuild I did, tuned computer still, paint etc etc. definitely buying a new truck before those things happen. Well, it'll get a tune first. I really like the look now with the "lowering" springs and the rear extended tubular control arms. Last summer was nuts. I don't think I posted to many pics of the build here. I'll have to go back and look.

| I've been emailing back and forth with Bryan Herter getting ready to set up a tune. Waiting on Tim who says he has a PCM for me. Didn't get the alignment done, but soon. Hopefully this week. Who knows.
I know I said I wasn't going to deal with streettrends anymore, buuuuuuuut my birthday was this week so I ordered some black powder coated headlight bezel covers. I also bought a book on building up an LT1 fir slmost any use. Hasn't come in the mail yet, but it offers a bunch of different recipes and tips to "go fast". I'm sure a few of you guys have the book I'm speaking of.
Hopefully Sunday (weather permitting) I'll finally install the tach and temp guages I got last summer. Came with a cluster bezel already opened up but I've got to trim the clear window that goes over the cluster. With my luck, I'll probably crack it. Maybe a few round files will work good.

| I installed the stealth brake bolt and bolt II mod today. Ran out of time, after bleeding the system, had to go to work.
Super simple "upgrade" tho I can't vouch yet for the difference, as I haven't driven it, you're wrong if you haven't done it or don't plan to.
It probably won't make that big of a difference until I put new pads and rotors on. That's coming soon too.

| Still spending $ on the little things. I snagged a set of rear PPM autox springs from the big board for $55. Says they were never driven on. I'm going to swap out the drop shocks in the rear too. They are short enough that they have to be unbolted to remove the springs. The rear is a bit too bouncy around town. Any suggestions for a good set for a lowered rear? The Gabriel's I had worked ok but were toast iirc. I installed those headlight bezel covers from streetrends. Black powder coat. They look pretty good beside the fact they are the shiniest bit of paint on the entire car Also, since I installed the box body steering wheel, its 10x more fun to drive. I love the classic feel of the big circumference/skinnier gripped wheel with the finger grooves. Getting the spare '96 PCM I need, from Jim Sunday, in order to send out for a pcmforless tune. | |
