Fuel Bib???

I grabbed a fuel bib from Tim yesterday for behind the license plate on my car. I'm having trouble making it fit, I put it on there quick last night to get it out of the way, after install it seems more difficult to open and close the license plate and stuff, wondering if I installed it wrong? I have it behind the plate and outside the plate frame, and then the bottom lip tucks down under the gas filler. ?

I'll probably just play with it later and see if I can get it on better. I did remove the whole plate frame spring loaded thing when I did this.

I remember a kid showing me his Impala SS in about 2004 and it had the fuel bib behind the plate, he went out of his way to point it out. So I'm curious, what cars did these come on, and why? Did they come as an option, standard depending on if the car was a 9c1 or taxi, if the car was a lighter color to protect the bumper's paint, etc?

Pretty sure they where on the 9C1's and white cars. I had a crusty one, but it didn't fit right either. I chucked it and am just carefull. I so love having it feul back there. Back in perpendicular if you need to.

I actually get comments about where the filler is when people see me open the license plate. The only thing that sucks is pulling up a little further, but w/e, you have the entire gas station at your disposal instead of half the pumps, haha.

My white '93 never had one, it does have a sticker on the back of the plate frame saying gas could damage the paint though.
