| Hello er'body.
The trans in my car has lost second gear. I am going to be buying a low mileage transmission. I want to put in fresh fluid and filter. I also would like to install a shift kit and torque converter. Which is the shift kit to buy? How about a torque converter which brand/stall would be good for my car? Thanks. | |

| Well, I have had very good luck with Superior shift-kits, I tend to try to stay away from B&M (and other cheapie) kits. Other people seem to have good luck with the trans-go kits. On the converter, it will depend on what you want it to do, and how much you want to spend . What gears do you have, how much highway driving do you do, and do want to spend? | |

| I have 3.23 gears. I barely do any highway driving, it's all city. | |

| I'd say 2,200-2,600 with those gears. I'm a big fan of stock vette converter. They stall @ around 2,200 (more if your making more power) & they are tough. My Caprice has a 2,600 but it's kinda sucky with the factory 2.-- gears . It feels like it's slipping all the time. | |

| Slow day at work, Al? Yeah, I always liked the idea of the Vette converter too. And if Mr. Tranny recommends it, you must do it! | |
