| So I found this insanely clean 96 Roadmaster for cheap ( I mean the paint is still on the frame and rear quarters could be eaten off of.) with like 70k on it. But it's got the CEL on from the AIR pump, if I got the PCM retuned to get rid of the AIR would that take of the CEL light? How much would a retune run me and who should i have it done by as well? | |

| 1995-1996 Chevrolet Caprice, Impala SS with 4.3L or 5.7L Engine (VINs W, P -- RPOs L99, LT1) Condition · Some customers may comment of a hesitation during heavy/full throttle acceleration. · A 1996 vehicle may also set any of the following DTCs: o P0410 o P0412 o P1415 o P1416 o P0100 o P0101 o P0102 · A 1995 vehicle may set a DTC 48. · There will also be evidence of water in the AIR pump. Cause Under high engine speed and load conditions, hot exhaust gasses may leak past the air check valves. As the exhaust gasses in the air tube cool, water vapors collect into the AIR pump. As the vehicle is driven, condensation from the AIR pump may come into contact with the Mass Airflow Sensor through the AIR inlet hose. This condition may cause a hesitation on acceleration and may also set the DTCs. Correction To correct this condition, a Secondary AIR Injection Pump disable procedure has been developed. (It has been determined that the Secondary AIR Injection system is not required to meet emission requirements for these vehicles only.) |

| Yup. Time for the delete and a trip to get it reprogrammed for the code. I'd recomend getting it proffessionally reprogrammed and then a set of headers to delete the air tubes | |

| thanks for the codes Bill I appreciate it.
Well as money comes in I'll probably go for headers. any how so in NY we have emissions garbage, I'm pretty sure they just plug into the OBD II and that tells them what they need, soo when the PCM is reprogrammed will this make it read out that it's passing?? It doens't really matter cuz my mechanic just slaps on the sticker either way. but any insight would be nice as well. | |

| There's a sticker that you can order and put on the fan shroud that authorizes disabling the air pump. Some people then do a full delete without issue, while others leave the pump and plumbing just in case the tech at the inspection place is a dick. | |
