I don't know if this is of interest of anyone. My dad is looking to get rid of his old truck. I feel it could be a super cheap but worthwhile project for someone.
It's an 88. Has a 350 TBI and auto trans. Tow package, heavier duty spring RPO. 8' bed with a Leer cap on it. "Runnin' bohhdz kehd". Canadian built truck. High miles, 326K!!!
The body on this thing is very good and straight. As far as rot, the back bumper is done for, the front pass. fender has some rot starting at the wheel lip, and the cab corners are rotted as per usual. The cab has that slight "sagged cab mount" thing going on that's ever present in these trucks. However, the rest of the truck is surprisingly nice. The undercarriage is damned near immaculate. No scale, hardly any rust anywhere. It's pretty unbelievable. I do not know if this thing was oil undercoated or what. It was sold new at Lannan when they had a location in Ipswich but it looks like it's from Texas under there.
The rockers are still good, and the bed is very nice also. Good bed floor, tailgate, bedsides look good, I did see a small rot spot above where the original tailpipe was but it's minor considering the rest of the bed.
This truck doesn't start/run. It died on my dad a couple years ago and he never really did anything with it, parked since. I meddled with it earlier this year for about a half hour but didn't get it to do anything. I did notice the connector for the ICM in the distributor was a POS that someone hacked together with blue RTV at some point. It looked like crap. It could be that, but I honestly have no clue. There is no battery in the truck. With the miles on the drivetrain (original engine) I'd expect the worst, but even if you had to put another TBI 350 in it, I don't think that's a huge deal. There are probably other nickel and dime things, I noticed the glove box door hinge is broken (common and a pocket item),
Right before the truck conked out he had the brakes done all around...I forget what he did but I know he paid like 500 bucks for whatever it was. It also has a catback exhaust system from Lou's Custom going straight out the back.
My dad loves this truck, it was incredibly reliable for him and he actually wanted to fix it but he's a procrastinator and it's just gonna sit here. He does want it gone soon, but at the same time would prefer it go to someone who is going to take it and do something with it, not crush it for Natty Ice money or put Scotch tape on some wire, wash it and flip the thing. He is probably going to cry when he sells it.
I feel this would be a good candidate for a 3/4 drop or bags, a 4.8 swap, satin black, and some Rally wheels or 18" Cragar Soft 8s. I know it doesn't start but I would much rather tinker with something that does not look like the Titanic underneath.
I'm going to put it on CL for 500 obo but if someone here is interested in this thing, contact me, I'll put you in touch with my dad and you can make him an offer. Again, he'd prefer it go to someone who's going to do something with it.
Yes, it is filthy and looks like a tree took a crap on it.
^Don't know what that oil leak is specifically from
Headlight switch is in that little plastic thing. I think I took the one out of this truck and put in my dad's other truck for him.
I was actually interested in it last year and thought it would be fun to do something like this with it, except in Crovo-satin black. I just don't have the time and obviously, too many vehicles already.
