How I wasted another Saturday

Actually, if I didnt have "other" things to do, I wouldnt have called this a wasted day.
DD has a miss. Came outta nowhere. Cold weather held me off.
I found time to do the plugs (didnt need it) so today before I went after the OPTI I figured I better rule out the wires.
Dont know HOW this happened.....


Found #6 wire had no continuity. Problem was UNDER the boot on the OPTI ...WTF?
I'm SO glad I paid a little extra for a GOOD set of wires...

Called around...of course NOONE stocks these.
Before long the day was shot
Remember Chapel & his fancy light......LOVE it!!


Drivers side is ready to go.


Now....all I need is a replacement #6....hope MSD likes my love letter...well email...
It is nice to go in deep once & a while to neaten up the stuff you never have time for.
Thats really where the day went....screwing around making sure everythings back to the way I started.

I had those MSD wires on my old Blazer about 4 years ago...for a little while they were fine then I got a miss, then it got so bad I flipped out and inspected them. One of the boots at the plug came undone from the actual cable part of the wire, there was just strands of copper coming out and not contacting anything anymore.

I also remember they didn't even want to push and click on the plugs. When I went to the website, they recommended completely filling the boots with dielectric grease to slide them on.

I took the set off and dumped them on craigslist, and put a new set of Napa Belden wires on...lol.

My MSD wires have been good for a few years with no problems. DUST OFF THOSE VALVE COVERS!!

Right now we're going for functionality over looks

Whatever doesnt blow off at 100 will be wiped & polished..

And this is MSD's chance to make it right

MSD OPTI, coil & wires....
Already swapped out the coil & ICM for known good
Once the wires are in order (& ruling out injectors fingers crossed AGAIN) the OPTI will get pulled for inspection

Who's doing the work? Matt? The impala ferry?

That would be me....with my consultants on instant messaging.

Just taking this 1 step at a time.

I've been lucky & havent had problems in so long....I got dumb.

Getting reaquainted with troubleshooting methods now.

Would be SOoooo much easier if I could scan for the problem....gotta work on that
