WANTED: SS rear FOUND Empty
PostSubject: Re: WANTED: SS rear FOUND   WANTED: SS rear FOUND EmptySun Aug 04, 2013 1:39 pm

^LOL, been there and done that with the rusty axles..
I bought a 14sf six lug for my old Blazer/Tahoe/thing when the 10 bolt blew. I got it off CL in NH in the middle of nowhere from a guy who said it was great blah blah blah, I forget what I paid for the thing, and those axles are so heavy, the feel almost twice the weight of a 10 bolt. Got it home, found pinholes rotted through the axle tube, after a chunk of basically iron ore literally fell off it. This was after I took my buddy and his GF out to dinner for helping me get it...Razz

I didn't want to deal with it, so I put it on CL and someone drove quite a distance and paid me more than the amount of what I paid plus the dinners for it, even knowing about the little rust holes, that they were just going to weld shut. Then I found a nicer 14 bolt in a friends shed after all of that. Laughing

That SS axle doesn't look as bad though...if it's cheap might be worth checking out?

Wagon Tom is a 1/2 hour away.  Glad to pick up anything anyone buys and bring it down to the Roundup.

I just need eyes on at this point. I don't want to spend $150 on junk or a 9C1 rear end.

He's asking $150 for the pair right?
So sell the 9c1 one and keep the wx3.

BUMP

From what I've read, I can use a B4U rear and just swap the brakes. 10 bolt 8.5 same overall length. What do those have? 2.93? 3.23?

Thanks Tom. I'm looking into it now.

edit:  Never mind, I think this is a re post.

I just don't have time to get mine out... but it you and some friends want to cruise up to maine and swap your axle for mine (plus a little $$$), I have a nice big driveway.  Mine also has 3.42 gears.  Stipulation is that I still want my car drivable.

It's a possibility. I'd want to keep my rear end as I JUST had it rebuilt in 2009. Maybe I can locate another, but that's just one huge friggin PITA. And I have no friends to help hahaha.

Got one from Al. Thanks again, man!

Now on to sand blasting, PC, new brakes, complete rebuild with taller gears.

Thanks goes to the ones that previously tried to help out. Logistics weren't working for me at the time.
