92 RMW mods Empty
PostSubject: 92 RMW mods   92 RMW mods EmptyFri May 29, 2009 1:05 pm

I've got a 92 RMW as a few of you may know. I've got her all cleaned up and I've got some money set aside to put into her.Smile
I'm very new to this car and I'm not familiar with what kind of potential it has. I know it's a TBI, but I don't need it to run 13's I just want it to be a fun car to drive (not that it isn't already). It's got high miles so I would also like to get as much as I can out of it.

So what I'm asking is, what should I do first?

Here's a link to my introduction thread for those who don't know:

Get her to breathe!

Caddy intake with cone filter.

And either a 9C1 y-pipe and a 3" single exhaust or switch to dual exhaust.

The intake and exhaust really woke up my anemic L03 in my old Custom Cruiser. Smile

Thanks! I feel like that's what's holding her back (other than the trans slipping a bit). I took off the MASSIVE airbox the other day when it wasn't raining and the throttle body looked great for a car with over 200k.

PS:
Where could I find this stuff? Razz

I would start with the basics. First go around and fix and clean everything. Wash the engine bay, and under carrige real good. Replace pvc valve, fuel filter, tuneup, belt, hoses. Basicly make sure the car is in great running condition. Then a police y pipe, cat, intermediate pipe and summit turbo muffler, followed by a custom bent over the axle 3" pipe. This will give it grunt and let it breath. The Cadillac intake mod is a super way to do an intake on the tbi. And lets not forget the all important quarter in the fuel regulator mod.

The caddy intake elbow is from any 4.9l FWD Caddy. You can find plenty of them in the boneyards. Then you use piece of 3" PVC pipe (aka sewer pipe) and a 3.5" ID cone filter. Should be able to piece one together for less than 50 bucks. Here's a pic of what it looks like all done:

And here's the link to my write up on the ISSF.

Here's the instructions that another forum member wrote up that I used.

The 9C1 y-pipe has a 2.75" outlet, IIRC. And could be sourced at any place that can get exhaust parts. You may also want to try our local GM parts guy, Chris McCabe @ Banks Chevrolet in Concord, NH.

Any competant exhaust shop could bend you up either a dual or single set up... You're looking at anywhere from $200 to $500, I'd guess...
