Millage has dropped down to 15mpg. I drive a lot on the pike and it's still low. Very frustrated any ideas? I own a 93 caprice LS 5.0. Cadet57 little brother too....

Don't worry, we'll still help you. Razz

When was the last time it was tuned? What kind of mileage were you getting when it was "good"? In that car, with the crap gas we now have, I would imagine you'd see at least 20mpg on the highway, as long as you're moving and not stuck in traffic.

Maybe all you need is a set of plugs or an air filter?

And just think, as soon as you sort it out, it'll be time for the "winter" gas, and your mileage will drop another two or threes mpg til spring... Wink

Oh, and welcome!

OMG, someone else's little brother actually participating! Mine won't! lol

The TBI's can be finicky to sort out, while very reliable. I have basically the same car. Right now it's not running as nice as I'd like it to, but I think it's the fact that I need a new cap and rotor (30K on them now I think), and I have never changed the air filter because I kept thinking I'd just replace the whole air box with one of those sewer pipe air intakes with the Cadillac 4.5/4.9 intake hat thing.

Is it running sluggish or rough?

The most I ever squeezed out of my '93 was 28 MPG on a trip with it. I had to try to get that though, no jackrabbit take offs or flooring it, drove the speed limit on 95 and cruised, etc. I was alone in the car, almost nothing in the trunk, and had the skinny 215/75 lightweight pizza cutter tires on it lol.

Put a new GM O2 sensor in it.

They only have one, and it's the cheap single wire one. Smile

LOL And he didn't even tell me he joined!

I'd be embarrassed too. Laughing

As for his car. The wires and cap are newer. Looks like they were done either by Ironfistdog, or the previous owner. The plugs are old thou. We have a new set to toss in. Also going to Seafoam it. We also changed the air filter back in the spring. Fuel filter might not hurt either.

I have one of those sitting in my tool box. It's on that long list of crap that will probably never get completed. Surprised
